After everything you've seen on this team over the past three years... you don't think Shanahan, maybe, just maybe, deserves the benefit of the doubt?
The Dolphins let go quite a bit of assistants for no reason. The roster was absolute garbage I dont know what they were expecting. The secondary has its moments late in the year.

Kris Kocurek came from MIA letting him leave.

Doesn't he have a history with Saleh?

I get what your saying. The other way to look at it though is he's had no trouble staying employed. The coaching fraternity is a tight knit group, if someone keeps getting hired than it shows he's earned some type of respect in league circles.

I will say this though, I'm a little disappointed. With some very good secondary coaches sitting out there in Kris Richard and Steve Wilks and we didn't even as much as interview either one of them. In Shanny I trust though. He's earned that trust.

Why did flores let him go?

Oden was hired to be the Secondary/ Cornerbacks for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013. He was let go after the season.

You should probably add some context... he came on to that staff in Schiano's second and final year there. Following season they hired Mike Smith to be the HC.

Oden briefly overlapped with Saleh on Central Michigan's staff in 2004, and Saleh made a strong impression during their short time together. As a result, Oden recommended Saleh for a defensive internship with the Texans in 2005 that paid $5.25 an hour.

Oden was on Detroit's staff with 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek in each of his four seasons with the Lions. In addition, 49ers vice president of player personnel Martin Mayhew was Detroit's general manager in Oden's first two seasons.

Oden will oversee a secondary that was part of the NFL's second-ranked defense in 2019. The 49ers allowed just 169.2 passing yards a game, the fewest in the NFL since the 2009 Jets (153.7).

In 2019, the Dolphins allowed an NFL-high 39 touchdown passes, ranked 26th in passing yards allowed (4,198) and 29th in opponent passer rating (101.9).

Yep tons of history with Kocurek and Mayhew. Cool about his Saleh connection also.
I bet Richards is holding out for a DC job only.

^ exactly.
NOT that our secondary was SECOND TO NONE, but was there any other choice aside this guy??

What's the RUSH on signing a DB coach already ???
Got this from Niners wire article before the hire.

Oden helped coach players like
Darrelle Revis, Darius Slay, Xavien Howard and Minkah Fitzpatrick during his last three stops. Despite a sub-par roster, the Dolphins in 2019 still managed to pull down 13 interceptions – tied for the 12th-most in the NFL.
