Seriously. No excuses. I've failed you all.

The whole world is falling apart, we can't have this thread following suit

After some off season self reflection, I've mapped out my areas of improvement. I'll be better. I have to be. #JerryRiceMentality

LOL

I love the job John Lynch has been doing I just want him to make a move for a starter not just depth. Just one starter for the love of s**t. And even then he would most likely rotate but we're not picky that's all we want

Did you plug his name into the Moneyball Machine? What's the figure that pops out?

I know right? Would it really hurt to sign a veteran defensive tackle like Harris or Dareus? They shouldn't be that Expensive

He signed with the Chargers. I'm assuming you meant Chris Harris
https://www.denverpost.com/2020/03/18/chris-harris-jr-signs-free-agent-deal/

I meant the defensive tackle from the Broncos Shelby Harris he had the most passes deflected out of any interior lineman. That's ridiculous considering he only played I believe less than 70% of their snaps.
i was thinkin the other day about how we can stay on top long term. we obviously have put alot of resources into our defense, with the focus being our DL. i think its safe to say we had the best overall DL in the NFL last year. we are no longer being shrugged off by the league, we are a target now and teams are going to especially be targeting our DL with their acquisitons and game plans. going forward coaches are going to be gameplanning to beat our strengths so they can beat us (our DL/pass rush and our rushing offense). so we should expect to not have the same success we had last year with our DL an pass rush. especially now after losing buckner.

it would benefit us to stay one step ahead of the league. stop pouring so many resources into our DL to make that the strength of our D an start using those resources elsewhere, in my opinion the secondary. we have players at DL that will keep that position strong for years. but if start utilizing high picks an big pick ups in our secondary we can stay one step ahead of the league trying to beat us while still maintaining a top 3 D. acquire a top 10 pick CB to replace sherman eventually an then get another big CB to be our #2. williams is awesome at the slot and i think moseley or witherspoon as our #3 is not bad at all. fortunately we already have what we need at safety i think as ward an tartt are plenty good.

ya something like this isnt gonna work any magic but i guarantee you teams are now gameplanning to stop our DL so if we can counter that with a stud secondary that is stronger than our DL we can surprise teams again an stay ahead of their offensive game planning, giving us the best chance to get back there.

He means Shelby Harris, he has experience as a 3T and the NT, would be a great add, would love it too, had like 6 sacks, and 9 TFL in 2019, most batted balls too. Crazy how lukewarm his market is.

Thanks AB. This guy would have to be cheaper than Suh and out produced him Bigtime. Please get him

Gotcha
Sorry for the misinformation

44 of 55 players already locked up for 2021 which is fantastic! We're in great shape now and going forward...may be the "healthiest" team in the NFL.

Even if the cap comes in at 20 million less we would still have over 40 million. That's why all of the people worrying about trading for a player like Odell Beckham Jr. and his $14 million average per year contract were over blowing this whole thing. Even if we are tight on the salary cap we can still work around it like most every other team does. We're not going to be in salary cap hell because we have one of the best wizards in the game, we were just asking for one very good starter to add this year.

100%. Most only look at cap space this year. They don't look at the next year and beyond. The Cowboys went from the red to $70M and is about to sign their trilogy. Equally important, is the number of players, and which ones, you have locked up. You could have $120M in cap space but have not locked up a FQB and only have 11 players signed.

Even this year, people think we can't afford to buy a few starters yet we're sitting at 18th in cap space...lower teams still making deals.

We'll never be in cap hell. Ever. You're right.

I wanted to show the above for help with the bigger picture on how healthy this team "really is" and if someone tries to use the up-against-the-cap excuse for inactivity (looking at you David Lombardi), you can call their bluff. Especially with the new CBA and extra flexibility within it.

But the truth is, we are up against the cap, I'm projecting we have $10M after everything is accounted for, not a lot to get 1-2 FA starters, when we need to sign our draft class too. No we'll never be in cap hell, but this year is tough, plus there weren't many big name guys worth bidding on, and yes bidding on players is a real thing when it comes to FA. We were in on Suh, McGovern, Hooper, and others, but lost out, due to not having enough cap room, and to redo more deals might hinder us in the future.

I hope Sherm returns for 2021, I know he said he wanted to play Safety, but he may have had his best year in 2019, especially after the achilles injury.

Also for Moseley and Brunskill, they'll get tendered at $855K each, the new minimum for them in 2021. As for Dwelley, Wison, and Mullens, they'll vary, they're RFAs, so thing at least $2.133M, it'll go up in 2021 depending on how far the cap rises. They have about 11 players making a total of $11M, the only one who has a real shot is Givens, so another $10M on top of what is projected, plus releasing Goodwin saves at least $7M in 2021.

I know people may get mad or crazy, but Juice will get his $5.25M he got in 2017 IMO.

Of course some of the APYs could vary depending on their play, like Blair, if he plays really well, if he starts the season on the active roster, he could be looking at a nice pay day.

But overall I agree with the numbers I think Kittle might get in the $14M a yr range, but definitely $12M, depends, the report was they were pushing for a massive extension for Kittle.
