Thinking of the Ansah signing. How little ROI we've received for so many players over the past 5 years but would love to see where the 49ers rank on that list. Maybe we're right in the middle of the pack?

Would be great to see that for sure

Yeah, informational only as a GM can't control injuries. But with all our injuries, I'd be very curious to know too.
For all the s**t 2020 was to us, there are some bright spots for sure. This team, IF HEALTHY [and it never will be], still has weapons, depth and foundational pieces.

Here's where we have the questions:

2021 53-man Roster:
Starter; Depth

Offensive Personnel: --- 20
QB: TBD [Jimmy Garoppolo]; Nick Mullens & TBD
RB: Raheem Mostert; JaMycal Hasty, Jerick McKinnon & Jeff Wilson
FB: Kyle Juszczyk
TE: George Kittle; Jordan Reed & Ross Dwelley
XWR: Brandon Aiyuk; TBD
SWR: Richie James; TBD
ZWR/F: Deebo Samuel; Jalen Hurd
LT: Trent Williams; Daniel Brunskill
LG: Laken Tomlinson; Colton McKivitz
C: TBD; TBD & Ben Garland
RG: TBD; TBD
RT: Mike McGlinchey; TBD

Defensive Personnel: --- 20
LDE/W9: Arik Armstead/TBD; Ronald Blair
2i: D.J. Jones; Darrion Daniels
3T: Javon Kinlaw; Kevin Givens
RDE/W9: Nick Bosa; Kerry Hyder
SAM: TBD; Azeez Al-Shaair
MIKE: Fred Warner; TBD
WILL: Dre Greenlaw; TBD
RCB: Emmanuel Moseley; TBD
SCB: K'Waun Williams; Jamar Taylor
LCB: Jason Verrett; Tim Harris
FS: Tarvarius Moore; Jimmie Ward
SS: Johnathan Cyprien; Marcell Harris

Special Teams: --- 3
LS: Taybor Pepper
PK: Robbie Gould
P: Mitch Wishnowsky

KOR: JaMycal Hasty & Jerick McKinnon
PR: TBD; Richie James
GR: Azeez Al-Shaair & Tarvarious Moore

Notes: Our same key needs for 2020 remain for 2021 as well in OL, ER & CB. You can throw QB in there too but it's highly unlikely they just cut Garoppolo for a couple years until a rookie is ready. They can ask for a restructure down but that's unlikely too. If Kyle wants a classic drop back WCO QB like Garoppolo, he's got a ton of work to do on the OL esp. regarding pass protection. If he's looking for Steve Young 2.0, he can invest less in the OL.

Several players need to be resigned such as Trent Williams, K'Waun Williams, Jordan Reed, Jason Verrett, Kerry Hyder & Jonathan Cyprien and extensions for Fred Warner & Kyle Juszczyk need to be done. Sherman, Tartt. Richjured, Ford and perhaps, Garoppolo could/should be gone. Ahkello Witherspoon is probably gone too.

AB, help me out here on the plan esp. from a cap perspective.

Good stuff!

I'd say DJ Jones might need at least a 2 year deal and possibly Garland as well.

I would move on from Blair III can't keep making millionaires out of guys that can't stay on the field. It sets up a bad precedence from an organization if they pay you just so you can hang out on IR all the time.

I'm on the fence with Alonso since it's thin after Warner and Greenlaw. But, Marcell Harris might be able to fill that 3rd Linebacker spot which is used sparingly. We'll see these last 6 games.

I'm also on the fence about K. Williams. Taylor #47 is looking good in the slot.

Thanks. Obviously I didn't include any restructures and key cuts like AB but I was just curious what keeping our own would cost.

The lesson I learned...we're not going to buy one outside FA, we're going to cut a ton of cap raping players, expect trades of our own and expect a couple/few restructures.

It won't be a Superbowl team next year but it could have a real shot at making the playoffs IF the core stays healthy. IF.

Good stuff once again!

I was looking at the Saints and Buccaneers who seemed to be favored in the NFC and they don't concern me if all the guys that are injured were healthy for the most part. A lot of what will happen with the 49ers might be happening league wide in the off- season and next season as well. So while the team doesn't seem like a Super Bowl team at the moment if it lucks out keeping guys healthy and those that can make a difference like Bosa come back and play well it might be in the conversation for one of the best 4- 8 teams. However, it will depend greatly at QB and O- line.

Absolutely. In fact, the bold you said is the most fascinating to me. There's going to be a ton of quality players cut. We saw a surplus in DT and S's this last off season in free agency. A lot of quality players added to the Practice Squads.

Next year? There are going to be 1,000 trades and cuts and instant pickups. And quality players available because of cap cuts. It's even possible to see player contracts go down across the board.

If they resign all those guys and then factor in the draft and health, they are back to where they were prior to the injuries this year.
