Only thing I'm gonna say is I don't like having the political spotlight being on the Niners either way.

Eddie D. had blown through so much money in the freewheeling, newfangled free agency time of the late '90s, that his cash flow was severely impacted. He somehow got the idea that riverboat gambling could fix all that quickly and maybe be a highly profitable long term investment.
Now, here's what many people get wrong. Eddie D. was never charged with, and so was never convicted, of offering to bribe the governor of Louisiana. Rather, to do business in Louisiana, the governor would make clear to potential investors that they had to do business with him first. The governor, not Eddie D., "asked for" the bribe. Eddie D.'s felony was agreeing to it and trying to pay. Legally, that's what the charge and the conviction said.
I thought Eddie was in trouble for not snitching / reporting a felony ?
Essentially the same thing. Eddie got in trouble for agreeing to being bribed and not reporting the attempted extortion.

Eddie had a big following in Ohio? He is from there but resides in Tampa Florida. DeBartolo Development has projects around the country but none in Ohio right now. As far as I can tell he is beloved by all of us Niner fans who were around during the dynasty but can't see him being a name that would swing undecided voters elsewhere. California clearly isn't in play for the election or any time in the near future.

Honestly is anyone actually hurt by Eddie D getting pardoned for something that happened over 20 years ago? The guy that extorted him got out of prison after a decade and ended up running for Congress and there appeared to be less outrage over that.

+1. He's a great man doing great things.
Its a far cry from the constant predictions that he is going to burn the earth and destroy the economy. He's not perfect but I will take Trump's ego with his success over the past 9 presidents gridlock and teleprompter skills.
I liked Obama and clinton better but trump has been better than expected.
Well Trump seems better now because everyone to the left of centre was catastrophising that he would be like a red haired cross between Adolf Hitler and Atila the Hun and since he hasn't nuked the Earth to a crisp yet he seems relievingly better.
He is still the worst President in US history.

It's a nice gesture...but for those thinking he could run the Niners again, that's very unlikely. For those who think the Niners can't win under Jed York, wrong again. Jed hired Shanahan & Lynch to build a championship team...they've pretty much done that. There were some miscues in SB 54 that had nothing to do with Jed. I've put it on Shanahan...but the ingredients are there for more runs. That'll be particularly true if Lynch kills the off-season...I think he will with some help from Paraag, who has few, if any peers in NFL front offices.
I blame Jed personally for the Super Bowl loss. Someone should fly a plane over the family home demanding Denise sack him.

You mean Kim Jong Un, who got Trump to come meet in person at the DMZ for a historic photo op without giving up any nuclear weapons in return? You might want to read up on what's been really happening recently.

"Although Trump says his friendship with Kim has produced a more peaceful North Korea, the reality, especially of late, has been quite different. Since May, North Korea has tested more missiles than it has in any other year in its history, except possibly 2016, according to the analyst Ankit Panda. It never stopped producing fissile material for nuclear bombs. Think tanks are pumping out reports on establishing "maximum pressure 2.0" against Pyongyang. The name-calling is back: Kim is once more "Rocket Man," Trump a senile "dotard." Satellites are spotting renewed activity at North Korean nuclear sites, while Kim has resumed testing at a rocket-launch site he had promised to dismantle in 2018. U.S. officials are yet again warning of military options. North Korean officials are proclaiming the days of denuclearization negotiations over. Kim is galloping around on white horses, and let's just say it's not because white symbolizes peace."

President Donald Trump is accused of being "played" by North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as the Hermit Kingdom advances its weapons arsenal.
Trump has repeatedly downplayed North Korea's missile test launches in recent weeks. But The New York Times reported Monday that U.S. intelligence officials now think Trump's stance has actually allowed Kim to "test missiles with greater range and maneuverability that could overwhelm American defenses in the region."
