Get him better pass protection - it will make a big difference in Jimmy's play.

No, and yes.
Drew Brees has 1 super bowl to his name.
Peyton Manning has 2, and very easily could've just had 1.
Dan Marino?
Aaron Rodgers, 1?
Point being, the greats of the game sometimes barely win the big one.. I'm not going to judge him on whether he wins us the big game or not. What I will judge him on is the product he puts out on to the field, and this last post season was anything but a quality product.
He deserves another year with us to prove to us he has what it takes, he's earned that... Going 1 and done in the playoffs with him, to me, could go further than what we did this last season depending on how he plays.... again I will not measure him off super bowl wins, but I will measure him off his regular season and post season performances accordingly.... Why you may ask? Would you rather have Peyton manning, or Jimmy G in his prime? We would all take Peyton, even though he only won 1 superbowl with the colts...
Bottom line, he has a lot to progress on, he's young, and it was his first full season with us, after a serious injury and we had a sb appearance. Now obviously our defense and running game played a big role in getting us there, there's no denying that. Jimmy played a role too, but to me that role wasn't big enough. To me, he needs to play even better next year. If he doesn't? That's fine, give him 1 more year assuming that his play wasn't completely garbage. If 2 years in a row he seems to be figured out or simply doesn't have "it", then we draft a qb and let him learn behind jimmy g. Stopping after that period, it would be jimmy g's 10th season in the nfl,
I'm not asking for him to be Peyton Manning or drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers, but something close to it will be enough for me. Close enough means that you know he can go in and beat the opposing qb on any given Sunday and doesn't need the superior defense to do it.

I remember feeling overjoyed when Sanders got behind the D like holy s**t we are winning this game. Didn't think he was going to miss that throw.

I was hoping for a late comeback - Jimmy had been doing it the whole year for us. Really, disappointing not to finish it off.

I think he deserves 2-3 consecutive years of starting to mature into his role before a final decision is made on him but that hinges on him continuing to ascend and improve his game each of those years. As a franchise qb, I don't think any potential regression is going to be tolerated very long by Shanalynch. He can play and put the team on his back during the regular season but choked in the SB so now he has to prove he can not only win a SB but can put the team on his back in playoff games and the SB to win it.
