It's simple really. Teams can have 53 players when the season starts plus practice squad. During training camp they can have 70 something players. They need a lot of guys out there that won't make the team to help out the other players in drills etc. plus preseason games, and they hope that somebody will step up and really play well.
Not every player can be an all pro

OBJ is a cancer. I don't want him anywhere near my beloved 49ers.

No he is not. Such a overblown lazy comment calling him a cancer

Yes, he is. At the very least he'll be a major distraction. And with Shanny's commitment to the run he'll be a a cancer.

Excuse me, that's 90 players
18 passes in two years.

Will this guy even be healthy enough for training camp?
Looks like they wanted Dorset and pivoted to Benjamin when he went to Seattle

Tony Gabriel. Dorsett. Sanders. Suh. Shelby Harris.

There are just so many other players I would have signed before this dude.

I actually like Benjamin.

We could use competition ar returner.

I don't have a problem with it. I don't get all of the hate around here. I for one am glad Lynch didn't go blow our minimal cap space during the frenzy. Would love to see the 9ers make a deal for a player like OBJ and a 3rd or something like that, but I feel like the focus is getting stronger behind our starters. When you love injury prone players, that is where you win games.

It's not an either or. Can still have Gabriel or Suh if they really want them. Benjamin is there just to compete with James.

"Well you know we really tried and did our due diligence, but ultimately it didn't work out"

-Lynch probably.

Always the bridesmaids, never the brides.
Either he'll compete for return specialist

Or he'll be a training camp body

Good roster fill out

He's just camp fodder - no way this guy makes the final roster.
So we just go the offensive version of Varrett
