There's no Jerry Rice. We all know that. This is a metaphor.
49ers need an impact WR. Is it Ruggs? Maybe...No one knows. But whoever it is, must be an instant impact.

He went to a small school and still went 1st round so I'd say people saw he had potential

Correction:
Almost similar. 49ers were coming off a Super Bowl win in the 1984-1985 season. That year 49ers needed to add WR talent. However, in that 1985 draft, there were 3 Wide receivers that were highly praised. One of them was Jerry Rice.
49ers traded with NE from the 29th pick to 16th pick. That's when 49ers selected Jerry Rice. The 49ers got the last WR of the big 3. There will never be another Jerry Rice, but 49ers could use one of these receivers to make an instant Jerry-like impact.
Now in 2020, similar scenario. Big 3 receivers on hand. The question is, who will be the next Jerry Rice of 2020 that take this team to another level?
Judy, Lamb or Ruggs?
My choice is Ruggs. What about you?
Combination of Ruggs and a backup to complement Kittle. I'd definitely like to see his snap count reduced. That will help immensely until we can significantly improve pass protection.

Round about way to put in a plug for Ruggs in NT.
He won't be the next JR that's for sure.

There has been several that had the athletic skills to match and surpass Rice but he had that unrelenting work ethic and desire to be the best. If TO or Moss had that they could have been as great assuming they had played on a team with a good coach and QB their entire career. The problem is a lot of the great skill receivers are head cases and ruin their career by being traded several times over and never really reach their potential.

Basically that is the big difference; Work ethic.
Rice wasn't the fastest, but he had that desire to work hard to be the best.
Which of these WRs 2020 are willing to work hard to be the best?
