Like Mama said, if your friends .....
If WRs weren't valuable and easy to replace, they wouldn't get paid what they do. The market works itself out. The only position out of whack imo is the QB position. They're constantly resetting the market regardless if they're the best player at their position
I think Sam Darnold only got 10 million, so the market does reflect QB skills, and there are a lot of QBs below that (Dobbs is only getting 2.25 million for example) I think the market is just reflecting the extreme importance of a starting QB. Also it's reflecting the futures aspect of an NFL players contract. You gamble that if you pay a guy like Aaron Roger's, he's going to last like Patrick vs going down to injury four minutes into the first game of the season.

BI'll Walsh disagreed with you. He said don't invest highly in a WR until the rest of your roster is built. He didn't get Jerry Rice until he had already won two Super Bowls. He rarely drafted WR's.

What an unfortunate situation
..all the millions and wants millions more. Rough lol
The sad thing is they are often arguing over a difference of $2 million dollars per year. That's more than most fans will ever earn in their life. I think the fans care more about winning than some of the players do. Players worry about being the highest paid player at their position. Fans worry about how are they going to pay for tickets.
It really would not make any sense, 2 mil. Guaranteed money probably. Who knows what else Goldilocks wants lol. Looking for that porridge that is just right. Lol
But agree..fans like winning more sometimes it seems. Brock loves the Niners though and we will win with him..Brandy or no Brandy!

Yes the fans pay one way or another. Higher ticket prices. Higher fees for game access on cable or streaming. Higher parking fees. The fans will always pay because there's no way the owners and players are making that money without fans. Fans love sports so much that they always seem willing to pay more but eventually some get priced out. I know people that can't afford season tickets and seat licenses so they no longer go to games. Some stopped getting Sunday Ticket because of high prices. Everyone eventually reaches their limit.

Hey, we gotta pay our movie stars and athletes, because, you know, they are the most important people....

That is a fact.....
I am not a dude that is plugged into player circles, but at one time I was. I did the Audio-visual for several different player's foundations (terrell Buckley, Brett Farve, Irving Spikes) and went to several player parties...only 49er I ever met at one was Amp Lee.... I did get to spend time around them and chat with them... this is a job, an extremely high paying, high stress job...but a job.
You might have some extremely talented guys, that are 100% going to have a 10 year career no matter what...they might worry about their legacy, because they have an ability to push their NFL fame to some sort of lucrative second career....but to your rank and file guys? No way....they might pay public lip service to winning or the fans...but most of them are trying to make sure they have a shot at being on the team for one more contract. They don't care if someone fs up and the team looses, as long as THEY didn't f up and cause a loss.
Once in a super blue moon, you might get a guy that is a fanatic about his team, and the fans....but I think that is super rare.
Look at it like this, even Joe Montana and Jerry Rice were smiling when they moved on to their next teams....

Dude you're talking about bridge and backups. No one is talking about the Kendrick bournes' of the world when we discuss WR contracts.
I'm talking about any viable starter that's due for a contract. Should Love be getting $220M after one year as the full-time starter? Daniel Jone's got $82M at his signing after throwing for 15tds lol.
it's the one position where any guy who's a starter, is gonna get damn near a record breaking contract regardless of how amazing he is.
that's not happening at other positions.

Bill Walsh didn't live in a pass heavy league or have a salary cap. The rules are different now. Stop bringing up someone who hasn't been the HC here for almost 40 yrs. We love Bill but just stop it.
I might as well bring up Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay sweep guess we should just draft RBs #1 and pay them more money than anyone else…since we're reflecting on decades ago and how a team is built NOW.
Like I said the market is the market. IF teams didn't value WRs they would be getting paid what they do and consistently getting drafted as high as they do. They clearly matter in TODAYS NFL.

I know $2M is just horrible for a Billionaire to argue over
Fans are the reason they can requesting this amount of money.NFL made $13B last yr because ya'll allowed it.
so save me the poor fans can't afford whatever. those stadiums are backed. We all watch every damn game. Quite consuming/buying everything NFL and the market will change.
For the love of god can we stop comparing our lives and careers to NFL players. You want to get paid millions and millions, go be a HOF LT or all-pro WR. That's America my man!

I mean there's also this thing called a salary cap. Which is exactly what this is about lol. I'm sure Jed would be happy to write a massive bonus to every one of our stars under the table if he could.

You don't need a top WR to win and history has shown that. BA isn't even a top 3 or top 5 guy.
You need a good coach, QB, defense, and O line

At what point do the 49ers say they are done and tell him to play on the 5th year or face very fine we can appropriately apply?

It doesn't mean the 49ers have to pay him. Some other team will. I bet the Cowboys and Vikings don't win a SB with Jefferson and Lamb. They invested in WR and that isn't the best investment
