I am at the point with both Aiyuk and Trent that if we get the deal done than great! and if we don't then ohh well. We might not win the Superbowl this year missing both of them but will still be a playoff team. On a plus side we will have 50+ million extra a year in the future to work with. I would rather have them but I don't see it as the end of the world if we don't either. One could make the argument that it would benefit us long term to not pay them.

We're not going to win the Super Bowl this year because of Kyle Shanahan. Not having BA or Trent just expounds the misery associated with a head coach who chokes in big moments. Regardless, I'm sick of these divas commanding more than they deserve. Aiyuk is not Jefferson, Chaise, Brown, or Lamb. He's a cut below and if he can't accept that, then by all means go some place where they will stupidly pay you the salary you think you deserve. Oh wait, he doesn't want that either. He wants to play for a Super Bowl contender AND get paid doing it. Get him out of here

Yeah I'm fine being without Aiyuk DIVA.

I am emotional... I drafted this guy on my money league to be a Niner. Just f* sign already.

You truly believe that Aiyuks agent got this offer and tried to get in contact with niners management, which includes A CLIENT OF HIS John lynch, and they simply just ghosted/ignored him??

Lol

Why not? At this pt it doesn't matter if Lynch shares the same agent…that s**t clearly doesn't matter. His job is to get the most cash he can for his client (and himself)

We're prepping for the jets. Trent is more important. I'd stop negotiating with BA completely and focus on Trent instead. If BA doesn't take our last offer by the end of this week, I'd stand pat and let him do whatever he will for the $14mil he's due to make. Tag and trade (if he's even worth anything by then… I'd imagine he'll jack us around all year)

just business, and he's becoming a distraction in the sense that Kyle doesn't know if he'll be available.
We'll see what the 9ers will do with his roster spot today.
With all this contract garbage going on I was curious and looked up Joe Montana's and Jerry Rice's career earnings. Joe earned a whopping $25 million his entire career. Rice 's biggest year was $5.6 million but most years were considerably less. Today's dollar is worth about 1/3 of what it was in the 80s. So in today's dollars Joe would have earned $75 million and Jerry's biggest contract year would have been about $16 million. None of this money was guaranteed.

Now QBs are making more in 2 seasons than Joe did in his whole career. At $16 million Jerry wouldn't even be in the top tier for receivers. Just another illustration of how crazy the contracts are now.

That I understand. I just find it highly unlikely (never say never in this life I suppose) that lynch was ignoring HIS OWN AGENT calling. It doesn't make any sense.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/40941434/nfl-rank-2024-ranking-top-100-players-predictions-stats

jefferson 3rd overall, 1st receiver, 1st on his team

Jamarr 6th overall, 2nd receiver, 1st on his team

Ceedee 11th overall, 4th receiver, 1st on his team (offense)

aj brown 21st overall, 5th receiver, 1st on his team

St brown 25 overall, 6th receiver, 2nd on his team

aiyuk 33rd overall, 8th receiver, 5th on his team (7th if you include defensive players)

There's the rub ^^^^. Deebo being on the list and juice being just outside the top 100 doesn't help BA either

also, ba is the only receiver on this list that isn't considered better than his qb

Just seen reports that the Bengals expect Chase to play week 1. Looks like we got the last 2 outlaws left in the wild west that aren't suiting up week one. We need some movement ASAP.

Ouch - now that puts it in perspective - the risk of losing that production is huge and would probably impact everyone else's production as well.

IMHO - now BA is playing for the 5th year option - he'll sit out until 6 games left in the season so he can vest this year and be a FA or Franchised next year. But as management I would send the message -- much needed imho -- that if you f*&^ around like this, management will be harsh back -- non-exclusive franchise him next year so you get draft pick compensation when another team takes him.

At this point, it's time to dispassionately accept the reality of his role in the season and move on -- get TW signed and focus on replacing BA with Pearsal and Cowing as quickly as possible.

If he sits out, 49ers can put him on reserve/NFI list. They arent required to take him off after week 6. In that event, they would have to pay him a prorated portion of his base salary, around 10 mil, and his contract would toll. That is what I would do at this point.
