Which brings us back to my initial point. You'd get NOTHING from him this year and almost guaranteed to be a worse pick than the 33/34 NE offered at the draft.
So we'd get a worse pick with absolutely nothing to show for it.
He wasn't going to go to NE, so that's not a comparison worth making. He obviously wasn't going to go to the Browns either. I think the Steelers offered a 2nd and a 3rd (all rumors). The non-exclusive tag allows us to bargain up to 2 firsts which we wouldn't get. I suspect if we trade him before the draft we could get a 1st...just not from the Steelers.

YES! We are getting salty Shanahan!
They may pay BA, but Shanahan could never hide is disdain for players who don't prioritize the game. BA is back in the doghouse.
If not extended, BA runs a real risk of missing game checks and Shanahan de-prioritizing him in the offense. Setting BA up for an awful UFA.

The NE offer was during draft time. Hard to say how that would've play out at that time. The recent NE trade talks you are correct

No
I believe in the past the NFL can file a grievance and it goes to arbitration

The Niners *want* to fine BA now. They're not playing. They removed the medical excuse.
I just don't understand how complex this situation could possibly be. I mean obviously there are complexities but 5+ months worth? There's more to this imo.

Clearly it's BA.
Listen to how Shanahan talks about the Williams situation. "When two sides want to get it done, it usually gets done."

BA probably doesn't want to come back. Probably tired of seeing Deebo get forced the ball in SB and do nothing with it.

It feels like the 49ers have had enough of BA's s**t.

Are we witnessing in real time Chase doing the "injury" loophole?

I'm surprised Marvin Harrison Jr didn't hold in for a new contract with the Cardinals since contracts signed don't mean s**t anymore.

Nothing was ever going to happen with NE. Aiyuk wouldn't accept the trade in august, nor would he have in March. New England was never happening unless they accepted trade without extension, which they would not
