Huh? Wilson/Fields weren't gonna magically be good in Pitt under Arther Smith. If he wanted Cleveland he wouldn't have said no already. That ship has sailed. They had plenty of cash before doing anything.

He's not getting moved at this pt unless some random team comes in and offers him a top 3 contract and stupid compensation for us.

I said I thought a deal gets done Labor Day weekend. If not dude is gonna be sitting at home and losing money and market value. His choice. Whatever.

Agree 💯%, and as you said repeatedly and I agree with you - 49ers have all the leverage here that they need.

You do understand he has to approve it for it happen. This isn't madden. He said no…they aren't gonna take him if he doesn't sign an extension with them (or any team).

unless he changes his mind….That s**t isn't happening. No trade his happening.

If you think he's a diva and this team doesn't need him…then what do you care if he holds out? He looses cash and doesn't affect the team because ya'll think WR and him in general doesn't change the team much.

He affects the team because he blocks a roster spot, blocks Cap Space and brings distraction to the team.
If this is fine for you, thats ok.

Not for other 49ers fans.

I don't want to repeat myself constantly but every time I come in here…it's the same folks complaining and not thinking about it objectively.

Is what it is. If WRs and BA don't matter to those folks, then why do they care he's holding out? Move on.

SF in no way should just allow him to go wherever he wants and get minimal in return because of emotions. He's got his options and at this pt he will start losing legit money. Those trade offers/contracts aren't gonna just stay the same either for him.

As was Antonio Brown until he started those things he did.
And Aiyuk flipping back and forth, not knowing what he wants, demanding this and that, may not be the best impression one can make.

Here are the BA assumptions
  • He wants to stay with 49ers - he is local, mom is a 49ers fan, prefers to play for warm weather team, etc.
  • He has to play this year - he cannot sit out a whole year because then 49ers retain contract control
  • Him and his agent probably have a drop dead game where he will return under the current contract. Most likely Week 11 Bucs after the bye (14-day break)
  • If 49ers are slow out the gate it might put more pressure on ownership to increase the contract offer before. Example would be they are 3-3 heading into a showdown with the Chiefs (10-day break). With Trent holding out it makes it more likely that 49ers will start slow.
  • It is possible that 49ers won't franchise him so he will have options where he can play next year and at what price.
  • If they do franchise then a trade is likely but again BA could make it clear he won't sign long term unless it is somewhere he wants to go.
I don't see BA making impulsive decisions based on these assumptions. I am sure that they know when he will likely return to play if 49ers don't extend him and the game of chicken will continue based on how the team performs early on.

He doesn't want to get moved. He wants SF to match what the other teams have offered.

You just said that Pitt and sf have offered similar deals - here you're saying he wants what other teams have offered. Why would he be okay with Pitts offer but not sf? Can't be as petty as taxes.

wait until he starts getting fined - it's going to change a lot of things in regards to his perspective cause the niners most likely aren't changing their current offer and BA doesn't have the capital to where he can feel comfy getting hit with tons of fines (9-40k a day). Aiyuk at best has 2-3M leftover from his earnings, IMO.

I think the chance of an extension is over between SF/BA. He's either going to play on the fifth year or
not play at all IMO.

Is that true? If Cleveland and 49ers are in agreement trading for players with 1-year deals, despite Aiyuk not interested in an extension with Cleveland... they can still make the trade, no?
I don't see Cleveland going for that. At least, the draft picks would likely come off the table, then.

But, I don't think Aiyuk "has to approve" the trade.
Still not at practice today.

Oh boo hoo we can't carry Brandon Willis/or Trent Taylor on the 53 man roster. Cap space? They have the second most in the league currently. They can do whatever the f**k they want right now.

only people it distracts are the emotional fans who continue to say he's not worth what he wants and doesn't matter here…cool he will sit at home and you can go about your day with him not there.

Only way it should piss you off is if you think a young all-pro WR matters. Guess what those guys aren't cheap and the market proved that this yr.

The real deadline is Monday. Him sitting out this week is no longer news.

Cap space can be rolled over.
So i bet 10+Million would nicely benefit us next year in signing Brock Purdy.

Cleveland is not accepting a trade unless he signs an extension. Why would you give up a 2nd/5th and Cooper for a rental? BA will just do what he's doing here in that case. Not play.

he absolutely has to approve the trade. He's not gonna play without a contract regardless of where he goes.
If I'm SF I just cut off all trade talks, present the best offer (which I think they already have) and say take it or leave it, play on 5th year or sit out we are done

They offered him the ability to seek a trade BEFORE his 5th year option runs out. They didn't have to do that. The 49ers own his rights. They did that out of the goodness of their heart. This is the thanks and payback.

That's exactly what we need to do.
