at his age and who he is…he's not going to play for week-to-week money. CMC could have very well done the same thing, they went and paid him before it got to that point.

LA did the same thing with Matt Stafford this off season.

I mean multiple teams offered BA more money. It's not like he's making up him market. End of the day I don't think he wants/needs to be paid like JJ/Lamb. He's not gonna take $26M or whatever SF offered him. From what I read, it's about the GTD cash not the APY and what's left at the end of the deal.
Aiyuk needs to fire his agent at this point or Aiyuk should fire himself

both sides suck right now.

So, we should just give Aiyuk $35m/year? Should we let Brock walk next year because we don't have money to resign him?

From everything that has been posted, the offer we gave Aiyuk is a fair offer. The rumor was that the Steeler were offering $28m/yr vs 9ers at $26m/yr. And the last rumor was that the 9ers increased the offer.

No one knows what Trent Williams wants other than guaranteed money for the next 3 years. Maybe he wants to be the highest paid OT in the league?

We have the most talented roster in the league. With a salary cap, there are going to be A LOT of moments like this. This is NOT on 9er mgt.

This mgt group has shown they will pay for players who perform. They have also shown that they had insight enough to push cap room from last year into this year to help with the problem. Maybe you forgot what the mgt group and roster was like BEFORE Shanahan and Lynch?

I have an honest question. If the 49ers found a team that was willing to trade for BA given the current situation and everything involved, regardless if he plays and or doesn't play, signs and or doesn't signs, can they trade him? If the 49ers own his rights, isn't that all that matters? They can trade him to any team they please can't they?

No team is going to trade anything of value for a player that's not gonna sign an extension with the new team and will just holdout all the same on their team.

They've already had a trade in place and accepted by both sides (49ers/Browns), but he said I'm not signing there so they're out.

also welcome to the WZ

Desperate teams offered more money. We aren't the f**king Patriots and Browns lol multiple teams. Crappy teams have to overpay talent. Happens every year in free agency and it would happen in this trade scenario.

The Steelers offered him $28m/yr and the Patriots offered him $30m/yr. The 9er first offer was $26m/yr. It has been increased. We don't know how much more. Look at the Top 10 WRs avg yr Salary. $26m/yr to $28/yr is an accurate salary.

EXACTLY!

He's not asking for $35M a yr. So no need to make up numbers.

Brock is under contract next yr…unless you think we should trade him for nothing because he's gonna holdout and folks will get emotional about it as well? And saying we will have no money to pay Brock is ridiculous lol. His cap hit isn't gonna affect this team in any meaningful way for at least 2 to 3 seasons.

Saying the 9er management has no fault in any of these is a homer take.

Yeah pay the player that lead the team in every receiver metic and was an all-pro. Give some GTD cash to the best LT this past decade.

get off your tribalism take. I love my 49ers. Saying they have no fault here is naive.

So why do we consistently set the market when handing out extensions?

Jimmy G/Warner/trent/kittle/juice/bosa etc, s**t Deebo was top 5 paid at one pt. We gave a 30 yr old DT $85M. Saying we don't offer more money is simply not true.

Well it's exactly not true if you look at who we've paid and how much in the past

Patriots offered him $32M. Reports are Pitt offered him basically what we did…Also we have no clue what the GTD money looks like and that's what matters.

I can give you a 4yr $130M deal and only GTD $20M lol.

Huh? lol I never said they didn't.

you said that he wants what other teams are offering from the niners but the only team that he reportedly said he would go to is the Steelers - which are offering essentially what we are.

whatever "resolution" this situation ends with - I don't see an extension being signed with the 49ers being what happens.

I think fans need to get comfortable with the idea that, at best, this is aiyuks last time with the 49ers. I'll be surprised if this doesn't leak into the reg season.

How much are we paying Bosa next year? What about Kittle? Fred Warner? You think you are making a point but other players contract extensions also start next year. So we are paying them more, then we will be paying Brock in the future. A lot of money is already tied up. I'm not sure why you refuse to grasp this.

Yeah, The value the 49ers can get for Aiyuk plummets if Aiyuk makes it clear that he won't be with the new team for longer than one season.

a team won't trade valuable assets (such as a first/2nd, quality players etc) if it's for a one year rental. Which is why the Browns/pats trade didn't happen.

also, Aiyuk won't play if he doesn't get a new extension (so far). So a team won't want to trade for him without agreeeing to one already because it'll just be the same problem we have right now.

it's really the only leverage Aiyuk has. So at this point he needs to accept the niners offer, play on the fifth year, or get fined millions and lose 14.1M for not playing while also not accruing a year of eligibility in the nfl.
