So why do we consistently set the market when handing out extensions?

Jimmy G/Warner/trent/kittle/juice/bosa etc, s**t Deebo was top 5 paid at one pt. We gave a 30 yr old DT $85M. Saying we don't offer more money is simply not true.

Jimmy G - we were desperate
Fred - best LBer in the game
Trent - best Tackle in the game
Kittle - top 2 TE in the league and he ain't 2
Juice - top FB in the league
Bosa - coming off a DPoTY award and also one of the best players at his position
Deebo - was coming off 1st team all pro and literally carried this team
Aiyuk - 2nd team all pro in a year where a lot of top WRs were injured or had hurt QBs.

you said that he wants what other teams are offering from the niners but the only team that he reportedly said he would go to is the Steelers - which are offering essentially what we are.

whatever "resolution" this situation ends with - I don't see an extension being signed with the 49ers being what happens.

I think fans need to get comfortable with the idea that, at best, this is aiyuks last time with the 49ers. I'll be surprised if this doesn't leak into the reg season.

I said multiple teams offered more. From what I've read, Pitt's contract is similar to what we offered and at this pt there's nothing to be had there. He never accepted it. He said he'd like to play for them….not at that price. I see conflicting stuff from SF's side with Pitt. Some reports say we had an agreement and others said we wanted more. Either way I don't see them as an option anymore.

really there isn't a team at this pt.

Which is why fans should also get comfortable with the idea that the best possible solution is him agreeing to play on the 5th year option and us agreeing not to tag him.

I don't see a better outcome for either side at this point.

Brock is under contract next yr…unless you think we should trade him for nothing because he's gonna holdout and folks will get emotional about it as well? And saying we will have no money to pay Brock is ridiculous lol. His cap hit isn't gonna affect this team in any meaningful way for at least 2 to 3 seasons.

Saying the 9er management has no fault in any of these is a homer take.

Yeah pay the player that lead the team in every receiver metic and was an all-pro. Give some GTD cash to the best LT this past decade.

get off your tribalism take. I love my 49ers. Saying they have no fault here is naive.

How do we know what anyone is asking/offering?
What if he turned down the patriots because it was not enough money?
Especially with Lamb getting THAT bag.

Hell no to a 4yr $130m fully gtd.

I would suggest that we pay Aiyuk a few more million this year, to get him to play on the fifth year (like restructure it), but he will probably want a no tag clause and that isn't happening.

Let's go Conley and Cowing! At least we have a decent vet to play in his position. I'm honestly much more concerned about Trent than Aiyuk but would like both resolved

Jimmy g- could have tagged after 5 games, instead of making him the highest paid player in football.
Bosa-they not only made him the highest paid DE, but the highest paid no-QB in football.
Warner-did they have to pay him 5yrs $95M? Blew up the LBer market.
BA-just came off an all-pro (who cares if it's 2nd team), lead the team in every receiver metric and was top 5 across the league in many of those stats as well.

Acting like they paid those other guys "at our price" is simply not true man. BA doesn't have to take a discount because of what they did previously with others. We don't have to pay him either and in that case they should have moved him when it made sense. Instead they did basically nothing and here we are.

That seems like the most likely outcome right now Tbh and I'm ok with that.

It's been reported that Aiyuk insisted on waiting for others to sign, so they can reset the market and he could get more.

I think he's been doing the same thing with lamb and now that lamb got paid - I think Aiyuk is trying to renegotiate.

I think the niners won't budge. He better decide to play on the fifth year soon cause he's going to be fined into bankruptcy. He has 2-3M AT MOST left over from his earnings - IF he's been good at managing his money.

it would be a very bad financial decision for him to keep holding out.

Because he said it lol. Reports said he didn't want to play for those teams. Not that the money wasn't on point.

Who the hell said 4yrs $130M FGTD? I said I could offer you 4yrs $130M with $20M GTD. APY is 33M but you have no real money to your name. That's why APY means nothing and that's more than likely the issue here. The GTD $. For him and Trent.

I wouldn't say the team did "nothing". I think they genuinely believed they'd resign him but Aiyuk kept on insisting on waiting for others to sign so he can get more and more. It worked to an extent but he's pushed it to the max every time they thought it was close.

Credible reporters said he told the team he wanted to wait for others to reset the market.

I think Aiyuk kept moving the goalpost cause he knew other WRs would keep getting more if he waited everything out cause he believes he's a top 3 WR or so in the game. Hes literally the last unsigned reciever cause chase isn't getting a new deal from cincy.

Niners can only afford so much and then some of this is setting precedent, IMO.

Show the report please….also he'd be dumb not to wait when everyone knew a bunch of WRs were gonna get extended. SF should have known as well and offered him something sizable to begin with. Not ghost him.
If he signs you know he's going to start slow and have a s**t year. This is going to suck.

I've been comfortable since his baby mama was raging in the parking lot after the Super Bowl. Speak for yourself lol
