I am f**king stoked he's back. I had resigned myself to us getting junk back for him.
I could've lived with the browns deal but still would've been somewhat bummed bc aiyuk is home grown. Honestly didn't want the b***h ass Steelers to get the deal of a lifetime because circumstances being what they were

Trading Aiyuk for Cortland and Sutton is absolutely a joke. Cant even believe that was remotely entertained.
that would of been a really dumb thing to do. I don't think a single fan would of been happy or liked it.
Aiyuk and a third for a second and Sutton isn't completely terrible IF Shanny could get him back to playing like he did before he was injured. Cooper and Cleveland's second and fifth was a great deal though.
I still like the way it worked out better though.
Having Aiyuk is def best case scenario. We are better with him than without - no doubt.
The Cleveland trade would of been fine cause cooper can play at a high level, excellent route runner.
long term - it would of been an L for us cause Aiyuk is in his prime but it would of been a decent replacement for this upcoming year.
the Sutton one just makes me sick to think about. lol I don't have anything against the guy but the thought of Sutton being our starter just sucks. I feel like it's quite a drop off from cooper to Sutton.

Niner fans are happier than a pig in mud. Steelers fans just realized they were the used and abused side piece in this whole thing. lol
their dips**t GM really thought he could fleece us. Hilarious. Hope the guy feels like a complete fool
Steelers were a good way to determine Aiyuk's value for sure.

We'll bank on him trying to do what Trent is doing in 2-3 years from now before he hits his 30s and wants more money… if he continues playing how he has. Lol

goodbye in '25:
Deebo, Lenoir/Ward, Greenlaw, Hufanga, Banks... at least 3, maybe 4 of those guys
especially with Cowing looking good, Pearsall coming...
there's not much behind OL - feels like we need to keep Banks
we finally have two legit starting CBs
Greenlaw is our enforcer, I like the young guys, but they're not him
Hufanga still might be the second coming of Troy P... we don't know yet... he had Wilkes and an injury last year, all-pro in his second season before that, won a playoff game in his rookie year on STs
and Deebo changes opposing team's gameplans, he opens things up for everyone else and is almost underrated because of that
sorry to be the downer at the party
edit: happy for this year though
Holy overreaction lol
Hmm well we are almost def losing banks and ward. If huf returns to all pro form then we may not be able to afford him.
I think the most likely ones we resign will be demo and greenlaw and greenlaw will be more affordable cause he's coming off a major injury and probably won't return to form before the seasons over - making him easier to resign
Personally I think we'll be losing greenlaw and Huf. It's tough to come back 💯% from these knee injuries.

I feel the same - I could have swallowed the Cleveland trade but it would have still been a loss.
the Steelers trade options was just all around disappointing IMO. A 2nd and 3rd (especially when they aren't a bottom dweller team) for an all pro WR entering his prime and we don't get any caliber player of Need just sucks.

What are all your predictions for Brandon Aiyuk this season? I think he is going to have a stellar year.
I predict he will go over 1,500 yards and 13TDs.

A 2nd and a 3rd in my mind is "Dante Pettis And trey sermon". That's the dice roll. When you hit (aiyuk) you don't let that walk for s**tty compensation. Thankfully they learned the Buckner lesson

I'm just as jazzed he signed, but never thought he'd have been traded. In the end it was some whackety drama that passed time until the season started, though.

Huh? Are you saying the details of all the previous deals they offered will be leaked out so they can prove that the final deal signed wasn't the same one since Aug 10?
are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about the team putting out the info that Aiyuk signed the same deal they put on the table Aug 10 - saying that his long hold in and fines amounted to nothing more than they already offered.
i believe that's the team trying to set a precedent to other plays that says holding in isn't going to get you a better deal and it'll cost you money instead. It also is a way to tell the fans that "we won the final part of negotiations by him signing what we offered nearly a month ago".
who knows if that is true or not but it makes sense why the 49ers would want that spin out there. They don't want other players thinking they can attempt what Bosa and Aiyuk just did and that they'll be better off for it. That Bosa was a unique situation cause he's a great player. Etc etc
However It's not really going to change anything as the dynamics of these deals depend on the other deals done outside of the 49er universe. I.e. Amon St. Brown, CD Lamb, etc....

Deebo and Bosa had a subpar year after they got paid. I don't think Aiyuk will go over whar he did last year. *One* reason is he got his contact. He won't be as hungry as last year when he knew he was playing for his 2nd contract.
