Anyone think the Warriors & Curry coming to an agreement on his 1 year $62 mil contract extension had a possible influence on Aiyuk & the 49ers coming to an agreement. I know Curry and Aiyuk ain't on the same tier of stars to their respective franchises but just seems too ironic that they both got done yesterday.

the market thinks you're completely wrong and WRs actually matter in today's football. Sorry it's the truth.

Ja'Marr Chase has never has 1,500+ 10+ in a season, so he clearly isn't worth it. Randy moss only did that once in his career. Calvin Johnson only twice.

I couldn't care less what the league or the market believes. In general, I don't think SF should drop $30M on a receiver who isn't even in the conversation as best receiver in the game, and clearly features a run-oriented offense.

As for those comparisons, Chase had nearly 1500 yards and 13 TD's as a rookie, then missed 4 games the next season and was without Burrow for a huge stretch of the year. It's irrelevant of course, because Chase is better than Aiyuk, period. Randy Moss? Calvin Johnson? I know you had to look those stats up, but the hilarious thing is, they're both dominationg All time HOF players, and Aiyuk ain't even close to that level.

Aiyuk will be with us the next four years just entering his prime

also lets sign brock purdy as early as possible and for whatever he wants before some stupid QB out there becomes the highest paid QB and resets the market.

He is the QB to reset the market
Seems like more than he's worth but it isn't my money and it isn't by a lot.

Also we don't know the exact terms of the contract. There's 30m per year and then there is 30m per year (wink wink).

I'm so sick of players whining that they aren't getting paid enough. There are very few players that I root for anymore. I root for the team. Players are getting paid more than any of them ever dreamed of. I wish they worried as much about their performance as they do about their pay status.
The team and had all the leverage including using 2 draft picks on WRs and BA got everything he wanted. Pretty stupid. They try and play hard ball but dont have the stomach. Every player now knows the 49er brass are pushovers.

Moving forward, I am very concerned how this affects the salary cap and our ability to retain players. I personally dont see the value in paying a WR that kind of money guaranteed on a 4 year contract especially with the quality of players we need to sign in 2025.

Both Deebo and Bosa admitted multiple times that they did not perform well in the season after holding out, many WZers blindly defended these poor performances. I am sure BA will suffer the same ills as Deebo and Bosa so be prepared to be disappointed and frustrated.

Aiyuk's contract details so far
  • Topline of $134.125 Million over 5 years with the extension adding $120 Million over 4 years. $76 Million guaranteed.
  • $47 Million paid through April 1, 2025. This includes the 2024 Salary, a 2024 Signing Bonus, and a 2025 Option Bonus.
  • $90 Million paid through the first three years.

That 5th year brings the 5 year average down to $26.825m/yr. That's better.

What? Lmao
The more I let this resolution sink in, the more I'm unhappy about it. We should have just traded him to the Steelers for a 2nd and a 3rd. With so many players to pay on our team, it's a position we can cover up and we have lots of other options. Loved BA until hearing all of this. He better be f**king awesome and the fans should make sure he hears that everywhere

It may have cost us Deebo or someone else next year I agree but that's about it.

How does a 2nd and a 3rd help us in 2024?
