in my eyes, I just think he needs to keep doing what he's been doing. Obviously we'd like to see him improve in areas like we do with any player, but we really just need him to just keep doing what he's been doing with Brock.

especially the selfless blocking he does when the ball isn't in his hands. That stuff is huge. BA does a lot without the ball in his hand that doesn't benefit his stat sheet.

Btw I know you're just making fun of what others have said and not me. Lol

Anyone saying BA didn't do anything in the Super Bowl watch that Baldy video…..

Yeah I looked up their stats and of course they're HOF WRs. The point is you toss out some obscure stat line that f**king rarely happens to further your narrative that WRs don't matter.

that's like me saying I don't want to pay Brock elite money unless he throws for 5,000 yards and 50TDs. Dumb

...which is why I stated:

As for the rest of your post...it's pretty irrelevant. First of all, where did I say that WR's 'don't matter?' I've seen you whine and cry about people putting words in your mouth......Secondly, I picked generic numbers that the elite receivers from this era have put up - the J. Jeffersons, the D. Adams, the T Hills of the league. Those guys are legit 'All Pros.' Brandon Aiyuk's season last year isn't, and that's because he isn't on that level. It's a second team AP back door pick because of the different circumstances that Jefferson/Adams/Chase were in. I can find many players who fall into that category. Combined that fact, by the obvious in that SF is a run-first oriented offense, and I stated my opinion that it isn't in the 49ers best overall interest. Third, Brock Purdy plays the most important postion in possibly all of sports - and there is a s**tton more responsibility than just '5000 yards and 50 TD's.' Yeah...you're right...it is dumb to make that comparison.

So WTF are you crying about? You don't even know what his contract is.

He put up legit level metrics last yr. He did all that without being forced fed the ball. Never said he was in the Hill/Chase/JJ/Lamb tier. Based on what we know about all their deals, he's not being paid at their level either.

his contact is also based around the idea that we aren't gonna have kittle/Deebo and even CMC in a couple seasons (maybe less for the first two).

I mean if it's a run first offense, you gonna get upset if they make Brock one of the highest paid QB football as well?

no it's not dumb to make that comparison…it's literally the same ridiculous take. We can all makeup silly numbers that a player has to achieve to meet "our" standards/support a narrative.

Yeah....you just reply without even reading....or making a legit case to counter my opinion. Just go be obliviously happy that Aiyuk is signed regardless, whereas I'll wait to see the contract in detail/see if he develops more as a receiver//etc.
Tim Kawakami wrote a nice piece this morning in The Athletic. In short, the Aiyuk deal is a fair one for both sides. It is roughly the same deal as Amon-Ra St Brown got, and they are similar players. The FO had to play hardball to get it done but BA had been very difficult to follow leading up to the signing. It's worth the read if you have a subscription.
I'm always dumbfounded by people complaining about contracts we give out. We have a pretty fair & tough front office. I have yet to see an extension we gave out where I say holy s**t, terrible.

As for the people say we lose this player and that player because we gave out the $$.... ok? We would lose a top 10 wr for peanuts. It's the same argument about Buckner. "Well we would've lost Jimmie Ward & armstead!!" Ok???

I don't want to lose those players and I didn't want to lose BA either

While blocking is appreciated and required I might add as a minimum requirement for Shany's offense, it by no means does it justifies his contract.

Bruckner is a DT, completely different.

St. Browns contract was alot less money guaranteed. Did he get the 4th year?

Develops more as a WR? Shouldnt he be already developed with that kind of a contract?
