This guy… holds out, acts like a child throughout the negotiations, finally signs and admits he's not in shape/ready, then goes on to be invisible for the better part of 7 games.

Hopefully once healed he can find a way to get his mind right cuz he been a pouty shell of his former self much to the teams detriment.
This is what happens when you skip training camp because you want more money. The league has gotten softer as it is with the reduced off season. It was only a matter of time.

How is the cap affected when a guy is on IR?

This is what it does to the cap. Most contracts are guaranteed for injury.

Good thing he got his money, that hit to his knee defiantly looks like a acl
He got his money, injured or not.

He is lucky he didn't do it last year.

Yea, IMO season ending injury was inevitable. The longer the holdouts went on this meh season overall was also inevitable. There were a lot of people fooling themselves around here.
When you're coping that he'll be better with a full offseason of football, and then realize he won't have a full offseason of football next year either.
Unbelievable . The fact that this poosy ass team let them do that Scott free without " receipts," is BS.
Marathe needs to sit by himself in a room and seriously think about his offseason strategy.

Every single year it's wait until August 31st, overpay the star, then the star busts and sucks.

I'm so over Marathe at this point.

Deals need to be done with the players being ready for camp like the majority of teams do. I get in this case it sounds like Aiyuk and his agent pushed this, but.... you geet what you ask for. now he will miss a big chunk of his prime.

If we are lucky it's only an MCL.
He got paid for that lady bug catch. His body of work wasn't as good as CeeDee or JJ but he still got some dough. Front office dropped the ball literally.
They should have a production clause. For receivers if you drop X many passes or fail to block, etc the team can back out after one year with no hit. Always seems like that once people get their bag… their production goes backwards.

This is Lynch not Marathe.

I'm afraid his best football is behind him.
