When you're coping that he'll be better with a full offseason of football, and then realize he won't have a full offseason of football next year either.
I'm afraid his best football is behind him.

Why? He has a game that should age very well. My fear however is that he can't be the number 1 guy in this offense.
Because I think he could be one of those guys that disappears once they get paid he's been MIA more or less this season & now with this injury I have serious doubts about his production going forward.

I don't believe he can be a number 1 in this or any other offseason he's a good not great WR when he's motivated.

I was going to reserve judgment but I'd lean more towards no than yes based on last year when Deebo is out. He wont get the full offseason, but Bosa tore his ACL in September, yet came back and had a great year in 2021. We'll see what Aiyuk is made of. His season and offseason were trash. There were flashes but far more is needed. We'll see.

I bet he never sees the field again. Once he got paid he seemed like he was done anyway.

That seems like an extreme reaction when guys come back from ACL tears all the time nowadays.

Indeed, and I get why people are upset, he sat out all practices, demanded a trade, but this could have happened no matter his condition, people seem to forget or ignore the fact that the human body wasn't made to take this kind of punishment, it happens every year to great players, look at Nick Chubb, he tore his ACL last yr, he's now back, I'm not saying BA will be the same, or better, or worse, we have to to wait & see, but no idea why people need to overreact when it's not their money being spent.
Is anybody really overreacting though he hasn't seemed motivated since getting paid why should we believe he'll be motivated to comeback from this injury other than to collect a paycheck?

I don't think he wants to be out there catching hospital balls from Purdy.
If not for Purdy he wouldn't have gotten paid so I doubt that's the issue.

Wasn't a hospital ball anyway.
Nope it wasn't that's a fact.

I actually thought the defender smacked him a little late.
I hope he is ok on a human level. Never like seeing those kinds of injuries. His absence and deebo's decline opens the door for JJ, Ricky and cowing. The injury will hurt us but in this league it's next man up. Let's see what we have.
Paying him was a huge huge mistake
It looked like Bowman's ACL injury . Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Am I the only one who hates the cliche of "next man up".

Yes, that's true. It's always going to be another man up...there's a reason why that person is 3rd or 4th string, or practice squad.

Sure, there are gems sometimes like Purdy...but more often than not...the reason these guys are buried on the depth chart or signed off the couch...is because they belong buried on the depth chart or staying on the couch.

You can only absorb so many injuries. The niners are well past quota.

CMC. Greenlaw. Aiyuk. Hargrave. Hufanga.

Mason banged up. JJ out this game. Deebo out this game and 2 previous. It goes on and on.

Its forcing a change many want to see. We didn't want Pearsall and Cowing to be mere depth pieces who never saw action. Now they will play. We'll find out real quick what we have in those guys.
One out of 7. Alot of money for that kind of production.
One of many problems the 49ers have.
Bare minimum can we place a bookmark in the BA situation to refer back to each time we have a contract dispute? The "you have to re-sign your best players" crowd couldn't have been more wrong on this one. I thought he had 1st round trade value, but a third rounder and a couple used footballs would have netted us a hell of a lot more than his new contract has.

his down season was completely predictable, snd injuries are always a strong possibility.

add the BA contract to the list of reasons we won't be competitive for a good while

He's a very rich man, he'll be fine.

He won't be the same player ever again. Between the money, injury and how he handled the offseason I don't think he ever plays like he did in 2023.

Yeah, no s**t. We've been taken to the woodshed on most every large contract we've awarded.
regardless of how anyone feels about BA, it's a f**king horrible.

football is a brutal sport and your career can be over at any min.
