49er fans should support 49ers
just like you supported jimmy
I wasn't saying hateful s**t about Jimmy ever. I just said he wasn't good and they needed to move on from him after giving him years of play. I said they should have cut him when he had zero gtd cash left. Turns out I was right.
people got all butt hurt in here because he held out to get paid. They said he should take whatever and be lucky or he should play out his 5th yr option. Good thing for him he DID hold out.
It's interesting and I'm not starting anything here with what I bolded. I just remember, you probably don't, a few conversations you and I had over Jimmy. And not to be childish but I feel like I was kind of right too.
To this day I don't think Jimmy was as bad or as much to blame as his harshest critics wanted to claim. That said, at this day I can't deny that his limitations and bad plays limited us. But I also never thought it was just an easy thing or sure thing to replace him particularly with someone unproven at the NFL level. And that in and of itself wound up being very true because who we
tried to replace him with, it obviously didn't remotely work. Who knows, maybe different set of circumstances it would have. But considering a Lance that had been in the system and the offense couldn't even beat out a newcomer in Darnold, it obviously didn't work. So we were very fortunate indeed that we decided to take some quarterback out of Iowa State with the very last pick in the draft the next year. And even with that, with some of his unevenness this year you had that anonymous exec who thinks he's nothing more than an elite backup. Which of course I disagree with.
But on Aiyuk, he did bring a lot of that on himself too, as he wound up admitting when he said he made it harder than he needed to. Requesting a trade, telling Jayden Daniels we didn't want him, and then at the very end needing to be told, "Look make a decision one way or another here". And he
did hurt himself and the team some. It's like Manning said when he dropped the ball in the end zone in week one, that comes (in part) from missing those reps, being in shape, having your timing down, etc. And he barely played/produced at a starting wide receiver level most games let alone as one who is one of the highest paid in the game.
That said, I certainly bare him no ill will at this point after such a serious injury. And yes it's good he's got some guaranteed money. Hopefully he comes back successfully from all of it.
