Good. Fans need to stop obsessing over cap space ffs. Only bad teams have cap space.

B.A and his agent were very smart about the structure of the deal. The bonuses really protected him against injury.
l looked at Adam Schefter's article and B.A has a huge bonus coming this week which guarantees his huge option bonus for next year as well. Because he's injured and can't pass a physical we can't cut him since those bonuses are protected for injury and would become fully guaranteed if he is cut right now.
B.A's and his agent were really on top of it.

I wonder if Aiyuk will feel slighted by all the talk about possibly trading him. WRs are so easily offended. He has to overcome the injury first.

Would be a big mistake to trade BA unless you are getting a premium asset. He's a #1 WR all day and I think he will be just fine coming off his injury.

He won't get traded. No team is going to give a 1st or even a 2nd round pick for a WR that may not play until midway through the season and may not be the same player.

Maybe he was a #1 WR in 2023 but he isnt any more......a catastrophic knee injury and a I got my bag mentality says so.

he's just untradeable. other teams don't line up for large cap hits that are on the pup most likely

possibly but my suspicion is that none of these was ever really real.
Of course the team is open to trading anyone for the right price this just reeks of media hype based off a whisper of a rumour of a nothing.

It was highly debatable we should Ever have given BA the contract that we did, and now post injury, we would Never do it. To think another team would assume that contract now, and on top of that give us high draft compensation, is literally just out of touch with reality.
In my opinion, BA is lost for the first half of the season, and a rusty and hesitant BA will not be as good as Pearsall in the second half. The $23m we're giving him now will significantly hurt our roster.
We made that deal at a time when we honored Kyle's attitude of keeping everybody to make a SB push, and damn the future. Well, reality has hit this FO in the back of the head, and they should have seen it coming beyond this injury. Instead of making us competetive on a SB run this year, BA will be a major reason we won't get there. We literally stepped on it

I think the reason the 49ers didn't publicly squash the rumors is to light a fire under Aiyuk once he's back and healthy. He's getting paid WR #1 money - he better perform like it.

That could be but with the way players are you never know how they will react to rumors like that.

Makes sense. Honestly he asked for this target in his back. It is what it is.

Depends on what the 49ers want in return? I wpuld take a day 3 pick or a package of hot dogs.
