That's unlikely to happen given the limited amount of resources the team has. 49ers would be fortunate just to keep Trent Williams around. Best bet is that Richburg is healthy and McGlinchey gets bigger/stronger/better.

You gotta understand it's not just a "few players" it's over 30 guys. They might have enough cash to possibly resign Trent Williams and that's about it. What about not having a single CB? what about Juice? what about RG/C? what about SS? What about EDGE? What about depth in general (we clearly need it)? What about improving at positions that we're currently having problems with? Moving Jimmy frees up around $50M in cap space in 2021/2022. That's a lot of cash.

We all loved 2019, we were excited and almost took it all the way...if we could draft a rookie QB, keep Jimmy, AND have a roster as good as 2019 I think everyone would be down for that...reality is COVID f**ked the cap space. Reality is that's not possible. Tough decisions will have to be made. Matt Miacco has eluded to this as well.

Good post NY!

Totally Agree . . . I knew there were a lot of players hitting free agency., but, I just looked and damn, so many more than I thought.
OL: Williams,Grasu, Garland & Compton
RB: Coleman, McKinnon, Juice & Wilson
WR: Bourne & Taylor
DL: Thomas, Blair, Hyder, Jordan, Willis & Jones
LB: Alonso & Walker
DB: Sherman, Tartt, Williams, Verett, Spoon, Johnson, Taylor & Cyprien

. . . option on Gould and about a dozen of RFA's.

Even if you'll be glad some are gone, they have to be replaced by somebody. Better players need more money.
Damn I love watching this kid play. Can't wait to see him grow. Get a healthy Deebo and Kittle and hot damn watch out

I love that he studies Davante Adams because he definitely could learn a thing or two from Adams about using different releases to set up DBs. Adams is a great player to learn from for Aiyuk. They're very similarly built(Davante Adams said he's 206 lbs now, which makes him and Aiyuk almost identical in height/weight).

Of these UFAs very few are "must keep". I've highlighted in bold those that are. Some others are "would be nice to keep for depth", which I've italicized, but I wouldn't break the bank for them.

100% good post. We can all agree that eventually Jimmy should probably be replaced. However I would prefer to let jimmy start next year and lose a few players like Tartt and Coleman here and there to prioritize the best resignings. Jimmy with a somewhat healthy team will get us to the SB especially with a healthy D (not including Dee Ford) while the rookie learns

I agree with your post for the most part but I think we only need to resign Sherm, juice, both Williams Moesley should be easy and Verrett may take a discount. That's not that many at all. A lot of our core players are still cheap like our wrs rbs lbs

It's not just about resigning our own guys...you STILL have over 30 guys off the books in 2021 as of right now. They have to be replaced. SF needs a full roster to play football lol. You have to pay to have players on the team you're gonna have to pay the upcoming rookie class as well.

And we're just talking about resigning our own...We haven't even talking about depth/upgrades that are needed.

I'm hoping the GOAT Paraag is able to backload a lot of contracts. I got a feeling a lot of teams will do this. There are a lot of teams in worse position than us. Saints and Eagles are going to have to go through a cleansing.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what they do. However, Thomas needs to go. Ditto for Tartt. Coleman is likely to be too expensive, given our cap situation. I like Bourne, but he's maxed out. This potential cap decrease is killing us.

You can't backload every contract lol. Not every person you're gonna sign is gonna be for multiple yrs...SF has 39 openings for next yr and that's not including rookie contracts.

I'm not saying we're in the worst shape in the league BUT we sure as s**t aren't gonna have the 2019 roster the way things are at this point. Someone will have to go (and I know who I would try to move).
