That is a mismatch for any TE in the league not named George Kittle. With the OL slanting left to set up PA to the left with Mitchell, there was no help for Dwelley on a very difficult block.
There is nothing wrong with holding in an extra blocker to allow time to make a good throw. The blocking call killed that play before it ever started.
I refuse to believe the problem with Aiyuk is lack of production in practice. He did too well in his rookie year for me to believe that story. IMO, the problem is a relatively inexperienced WR coach (Wes Welker) and a system that is set up to run the ball first and throw it as a second option. Put Aiyuk in Bruce Arians' system and he is a Pro Bowl receiver every year.
Hard to say for sure. I could easily bring up the idea that Jimmy should have stopped much earlier than he did, and if he did, Dwelley would have had inside position on the block and Jimmy would have had time to throw. I dont know how far Jimmy is taught to run, but it still could have worked had he pulled up a few steps earlier.
I agree with the last paragraph completely though.
Yes, it looks like Jimmy might have pulled up sooner. However, that might not be the way it was coached. Again, we don't know. What we do know is that Kyle does not set up many shot plays down the field. The reason for that is not BA, IMO.
B- Right. I acknowledged that fact too saying I am not sure how far Jimmy is taught to run.
I- I also agree with this. That is why it is so maddening to me when in the Jimmy thread that people claim that he doesnt have a deep threat on this team. BS! We have plenty of deep threats on this team. The problem is at times the line doesnt hold up for long enough and other times, our QB doesnt give the play long enough to develop. The latter, being one of my biggest pet peeves about QBing.
