It's hard to justify aggressive trade-up for a guy who is 5'11. NOBODY had him WR5 or lower. Kyle may have loved him as a scheme fit, but he's not really a WR1 type stud in any way. Not sure anyone was in this draft, which is why they all fell after 15 despite their agents paying SI for a cover etc. No Julio Jones's, Dez Bryant, Megatron.

From Dane Brugler.

#5-Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State: "The definition of a playmaker is a player who turns small plays into big plays and that is exactly what Aiyuk can do with his dynamic athleticism, projecting similar to Emmanuel Sanders (his skill set, role and impact) at the NFL level."

What else would you like to be wrong about?

HAHA if you think that's actually what it's about.

He simply wasn't the best and there's film to back it up. Throw in damn near every single draft analyst who does this s**t for a living.

For someone that has the biggest wingspan known to man he's seems to have an issue with making contested catches.

Dudes got stuff to improve upon. I don't think he sucks or anything, but your fabricating up stuff now.

Aiyuk may not have been my #1, but the traits he has lead me to believe his ceiling is on the level of OBJ. Even their play style is very, very similar. Looking at other similarities:

Stats in Last College Season
Beckham: 59 rec, 1152 yards, 8 TDs
Aiyuk: 65 rec, 1192 yards, 8 TDs

Measurables
Beckham: 5-11 198 4.43, 38.5-inch vertical, 32 3/4" arm length, 10" hands, 7 reps on the bench
Aiyuk: 6-0 205 4.50, 40-inch vertical, 33 1/2" arm length, 9 3/4" hands, 11 reps on the bench

Other Notes
Both were used in the return game for their teams. Beckham had 2 career PR TDs, Aiyuk had 1.
Both ASU and LSU used pro concepts in the route trees that they ran.
okdkid you an ASU grad?

Dude it's such a bad take to say he's got the best release in the draft...let's stop with the homer talk.

He's a damn good WR, he's not the best getting of the LOS. Just isn't... Doesn't mean he can't improve. Yes he's got a massive wingspan, I wish he would actually use it more though. That was another knock on him, he would tend to let ball come into his body vs going up and getting it with his hands.

He's got things he can improve upon, it's not a horrible thing lol. I'm sure kyle will scheme up stuff for him this yr.

I'm seriously confused.

His coach (Herm Edwards) said the complete opposite and can't remember Aiyuk bodying any balls unless the catch called for it. I have only watched a few breakdowns, but every one shows that he catches with his hands like a champ.

Am I missing something?

whoa let's slow our roll with Beckham vs Aiyuk. Beckham had insane agility test scores. Aiyuk unfortunately didn't test any of those (3 cone, shuttles)

The only comparison at this point is that those inside the scouting community had higher grades on these guys than those outside. Both were selected earlier than the general consensus but after the selection the talking heads raved about them like they knew the whole time.

Idk but I still want people to know that I was being sarcastic lol.

I don't think he has the best release. But it's fine and he will improve. But this notion he can't catch contested balls is very strange to me as well.

For real!?

Saying he's got the best release is like saying Tua has the strongest arm in the draft. It's simply not true.

The more I watch of the kid I like and I feel like he landed in the right spot. I get what kyle likes about him.

That doesn't mean he's a flawless prospect.

Totally different hairstyles too.

Gadget WR?

He wins on the outside regularly. That's straight from Shanahan.

This is exactly what we need in a WR. We needed a guy who wins outside the numbers and down the sideline for Jimmy to throw the ball to. This in turn opens up the middle of the field for Deebo and Kittle, as well as the ground game.
Damnit so I guess with his last name we will not get rid of that stupid fkn 300 chant they do when we get first downs. Lol I can see everyone doing that when he scores a td!!

Worst fkn chant in the league. Fk you Harbaugh! Why we still do it baffles me. This was a Harbaugh thing.

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who hated that s**t.

They need to bring back the pin ball pump up video on the jumbo tron where the football is a gold nugget.

That s**t was fire.
