Lol seriously.

I don't think "gadget type WR" is a derogatory term. I could call Deebo a gadget type WR the way he was used last season. Kyle dialed up end arounds, shovel screens, bubble screens for Deebo. That's gadget-ish to me.

ya, i see him being used the same way.

I don't think he has the best release. But it's fine and he will improve. But this notion he can't catch contested balls is very strange to me as well.

Read every single draft breakdown of him, negative is always contested catches and being physical at the catch pt.

Listen, I don't hate the pick at all. I don't think he was worth where he went, let alone moving up for him in the process. If kyle can work some magic with him I'm all for it.

Personally I'm more excited to hopefully see a healthy Hurd.

In Kyles offense gadgets = cogs in the machine haha. Deebo is a WR/RB, Hurd is a WR/RB/TE, Aiyuk is a WR/RB, McKinnon is a RB/WR, Breida is a RB/WR, Juice is a FB/WR... Shanny's machine wants to line up anyone anywhere and have the defense sh*t their pants.

Damnit so I guess with his last name we will not get rid of that stupid fkn 300 chant they do when we get first downs. Lol I can see everyone doing that when he scores a td!!

Worst fkn chant in the league. Fk you Harbaugh! Why we still do it baffles me. This was a Harbaugh thing.

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one who hated that s**t.

They need to bring back the pin ball pump up video on the jumbo tron where the football is a gold nugget.

That s**t was fire.

Agreed. That could lead someone to say they are gadget players. I think that's a good thing, shows versatility. Unless 'gadget player' implies they are only used in certain subpackages for 3-5 plays a game. That Taysom Hill guy is a gadget player to me, but he gets lots of playing time and is a good player for NO.

To me gadget player means you are used in many ways, limited only by the creativity of the play designer. To be able to do many things is an asset.

See... I don't read draft breakdowns I just watch as many games as I can

I find it's worked okay for me so far.

Don't forget Coleman, another RB/WR.

Also Kittle, TE/GOAT

Gadget is the opposite of versatile. Gadget implies specialized, unconventional roles. Versatile implies a variety of different roles.

Okay. Then going by your definition, calling Aiyuk a gadget player is wrong. He can line up and run WR routes.

whoa let's slow our roll with Beckham vs Aiyuk. Beckham had insane agility test scores. Aiyuk unfortunately didn't test any of those (3 cone, shuttles)

I like the Emmanuel Sanders comparison a lot better. Aiyuk plays a lot like a thicker version of Sanders when he was coming out of college. Same height, similar sort of athleticism, both were major YAC threats that were pretty dynamic with the football in their hands.
This was a sick rep...need more of this please

I've also seen Stefon Diggs and Golden Tate comps thrown out there but I agree. I think Sanders is a very good comp.

I only know of Sanders from his time here in SF. Sanders was a very agile guy. In and out of breaks very fluidly. I'm looking for reps of Aiyuk doing the same. So far I see lots of Go routes and slants. I think I saw one rep where Aiyuk ran a pivot route, but I don't see much of that from the videos I've been able to find.
