I'm not entirely sure how we only managed to score a measly 14 pts against the Falcons with Aiyuk, Deebo and Kittle.
It's mind boggling.
We aren't a passing team and when run game is abandoned, generally bad things happen.
It's not that hard to understand. The Falcons dominated the TOP by running the ball and converting on 3rd downs. Our possessions were limited. We did not force any TOs either.
Falcons had 8 drives and we had 10. We moved the ball pretty well. We just could not capitalize on most of our possessions due to penalties, drops, int's and the run game getting stuffed. We only converted 3 of 8 on 3rd down.

How many drops were there? I know there were a couple that prevented big gains but I see drops every week. They need to overcome those. It may be my imagination but it seems like the 49ers throw passes into the end zone less than other teams. TD passes are often short passes that are run into the end zone.Yesterday was an example of that. Two screen passes behind the line that were run in vs a pass directly into the end zone. A TD is a TD but too often players get stopped short and we fail to get the TD so we have to kick a FG. FGs instead of TDs put you one score closer to a loss. Jennings and Kittle should both be good direct end zone targets. This team should be able to score more in the 2nd half with the personnel they have. No excuses.
Did I say it was all drops? I could have sworn I had a laundry list of reasons why 80% of our drives didn't result in scores.
