We can keep both, the Rams have kept two good (highly paid) receivers forever, Tampa Bay has kept two or three, there are plenty of teams that can keep two very good receivers as well as pay other players at the same time. We have quarterbacks on rookie contracts and the salary cap will be going up every year. Especially since Deebo gets injured a few games every year we need to keep Aiyuk

Those a pass centric offenses though. Those are much more needed to operate their offenses.

AB was on John Chapman's show a few minutes ago and said that he sees no big cap issues when it comes to keeping both long-term if we want to go that route. Aiyuk is definitely getting extended, unless someone blows Lynch away, and unless Deebo plays poorly, I'm sure he'll finish out his contract and possibly get another extension if his play doesn't greatly diminish over that time. I trust our front office to work everything out.

This👆🏻. AB says we should have no problem keeping our core since the cap is expected to rise a good amount the next couple years. No reason at all to trade Aiyuk. He keeps getting better plus Shanahan loves how he blocks in the run game. I think we draft a WR in the 5th rd this year in hopes he can take Jennings spot when he leaves and if we hit on him we can let Deebo walk if his price is too high come 2025

Jauan is the one I think we won't be able to afford to keep, with the market for good WRs getting $11M a yr+, Jauan will cash in when it comes time, enjoy JJ while we have him, like we did Azeez last year.

Jauan is definitely a goner and he deserve it. I'd like to start developing a guy this year, but said player likely won't make the team. if we can keep a similar type of player on the practice squad this year, that would do wonders. What was the podcast you did discussing the cap situation?

Agreed, need to start planning for the future, we have Jauan for 2 more years, he's a RFA after 2023.

John Chapman's, I can get the link if you want.

I found it! Thanks for the offer. Going to definitely follow up after I listen.

My biggest point of interest- keeping Aiyuk longterm. I think there's no way Aiyuk walks and it was really encouraging that you think they can keep both longterm. II never thought Deebo wouldn't play out his deal. His 3 year deal keeps him while he is in his best years and leaves him the opportunity to get a 3rd contract while still under 30. I was pretty much thinking, okay that's it for Deebo after 2025 to ensure they keep Aiyuk. But the interesting thing is this, what would an extension look like after 2024? The good news for us is I don't think Deebo would be able to demand top dollar the way he did coming off of an All-Pro year, but I still think he can demand a significant amount if he is our top or number two guy on offense the next two seasons. It's going to be interesting to see how the ball is spread going forward because we know Purdy will buy time and will hit anybody if they are open and Trey I think likely has Aiyuk as his top target.

I totally agree with not redoing the McCaffrey deal. He has A LOT of miles on him, going back to college. The good news with him is that he is such a good pass catcher that you can use him as a receiver more and decrease the RB load. If only they could depend on TDP and Mitchell.

That Nick Bosa number hurt my soul. I'm glad non QBs are getting top money because I think in some instances, guys like Bosa, Trent Williams, are worth more than QBs outside of the top 2 tiers, but it's crazy how fast the numbers change. I remember when during the season it was said Bosa would get 30 million per year, but to now say 35 to 40..sheesh. Makes me wonder what Minkah will get when his deal is up.

Do all the WR visits signal something to happen?

BA is due a BIG deal soon. So is Deebo.

Do any of you see a potential trade for one or the other?

Just curious.

Deebo probably gets dealt after 2024 if Brandon keeps up his trajectory.

Deebo isn't being dealt anytime soon, they'll likely restructure his deal next offseason, saves over $15M, they'll need that money to cover Nick Bosa's extension, plus to sign free agents, plus Ward, Dre, & Armstead should be in line for extensions next offseason.

Dre as in Greenlaw? Didn't he just sign an extension?

I think they are preparing for a very possible scenario where Aiyuk demands too rich a contract for the 49ers to match.
