They got nothing for Mike McGlinchey's 5th year option and lost him to FA. Strike while the iron's hot.

I'd rather keep Aiyuk for this upcoming season and then maybe trade him in his fifth year if we have a viable alternative

Aiyuk is going to get you a 1+. There's your RT and/or LT of the future. Then you don't have to pay that 5th year option. This isn't a pass centric offense. We don't need lots of 1K receivers. He's clearly not thrilled to play in this offense. It's smart business whether we like it or not.

We need one 1000 yard WR.

Win Now

Haha. Love it!

CMC for 1K + 1K.

I don't get the whole Aiyuk is unhappy in SF talk, he said he loves being in Cali, loves being a 49er, and wants to be a 49er long term, plus now you see what happened, his agent calls him, he thinks he got traded, was ready to kick doors in at the facility, he doesn't want to go anywhere, enough BS that Aiyuk wants out, not true. And we can afford Aiyuk long term, plus Deebo, & our core.

The issue wasn't that he was unhappy here. It's that he fully recognizes he's not getting the full respect b/c he plays on a run centric offense and is a 3rd option in the passing game; sometimes 4th. He knows his 1K here could be 1,500 yards elsewhere if he were featured in a pass centric offense. And he'd get paid accordingly once he did that. But it is clear he loves being here. So that's great!!

Haha. Did his numbers increase? Project it out! Maybe he'll be a 1.1K receiver now. LOL

Yeah that's my whole thing is most of the times BA was frustrated on the field were with Jimmy, we all remember how tight him and Trey were coming into last year, and I think he's smart enough to see how well Brock was operating, and ultimately whether it's Brock or Trey back there, the offense as a whole still hasn't hit its peak yet. Sure BA could get more yards somewhere else (maybe) but there's more to football than that. He's a key piece of a team that's been a perennial contender (since he's been here) and looks to be one of the top teams going forward. Even with how much we spread the ball around he put up really good stats last season with all the insanity at QB, thereby it stands to reason that he could put up better stats with more consistency behind center.

Deebo was in the same predicament. When he was a league leading WR his Markey value was higher than it is now as a slash player.

49ers will find a way to keep both. Deebo's contract expires in 25 while Aiyuk's with 5th year option invoked is 24. Expect them to get creative and the cap to increase...allowing them to do so.

If anything, because of how we use DS and the way he plays- I expect the nine's to look for DS replacement because by the end of that contract-D maybe be banged up.

WR1. Fifth year option picked up!

LETS GOOOOOOO
Damn couldn't get a cheap long term deal done before he blows up this year
49ers picking up Aiyuk's 5th year option is the worst kept secret. There was never any doubt.

Why would he take that deal??
Exercised his fifth year option!

We will either extend him next year which I believe we could easily do or trade him for a first round pick
