I definitely think the jury is still out on BA. He's a very good WR, but if it's between gettin first a rounder him or paying him top 5 money I'm not sure I'd wanna pay BA that right now. Might change as the season goes on tho. Maybe he goes on a run like Deebo in 21.

But he's dropped two of Purdys best passes as a Niner. He's not taking over a game like Adams or Jefferson or like Deebo did in 21. Thats what top 5 WRs are supposed to. So for as much as he's improved I still kinda wanna see more.

I mean he's made some great catches all the same. In an offense that's based around passing more, I think he's an every yr 1K guy. I think he's better than what some people in here think. He's a damn good route runner

It couldn't be more obvious with Deebo's absence that Aiyuk needs a good WR opposite to complement him. He's fantastic while Deebo plays, but certainly not a Jefferson, Adams, Diggs type receiver, so in no universe should he get paid what they do.

Thats a very good question. I'm unsure at this point. I will consult with the pronhub comment section for their wisdom extends past thousands of generations.

, I am one of those that have wisdom which transcend time itself.
BA is great but if his money keeps Young thats a win.

I think that's a tough decision. I don't know man. Aiyuk is likely way better than almost any receiver would get get in the draft. The pass rush class though, we might be able to get a high caliber pass-rusher still.

I don't know who's going to be available when the 49ers pick. I do know that receiver isn't a priority compared to the O line and a top CB. That means they would probably not be looking at WR until the 3rd round with one of their comp picks. If they traded Aiyuk for a 1st or 2nd round pick then they would need to look earlier in the draft.

Hes very good and I'd like to keep him, but I know what he's going to be asking for and as of yet I'm not sure he's earned it. But I'm hoping/expecting on the stretch run he steps up and proves he's worth it.

Time will tell, I'm not going to hold the drops against him yet if he continues he's got to go but everything else he's show casing "Elite".

Right now I'd keep BA but if Young balls out its a no brainer. Couldn't we exercise the 5th year option too? He's looking like he should get a new contract but he's had some hiccups in his 1 good season. If we did do that I imagine he'd explore FA in 2025

I'm surprised by the sentiment that his "drops" have been an issue or something. I don't know the exact stats but BA has been very reliable for us and he is open on almost every play, add to that, he's a humble hard working player that has zero diva in him.

Class guy, with outstanding talent and does the dirty work of blocking and getting other guys open while not complaining.

We need to keep him no matter what imo.

I agree. I haven't seen a large number of drops. There have been some passes that could have been caught but they also could have been thrown better. Flat out drops haven't been a big issue. I heard that the Chiefs receivers lead the league in dropped passes.

Are you guys serious? He has had more than one bounce literally off his face this year...

He's a solid #2 but he's not even close to the top guys. He's a borderline top 30 receiver.

He's not a 50/50 ball guy who you can just toss it up and know he is either going to come down with it or fight the db and knock it out of his hands. Or take a slant 80 yard type guy like Tyreek is or AB was.

He would be worth it if we had less talent but right now it's probably worth more to shore up offensive line then give him 20 million a year. He doesn't move the needle.

I think that's the thing. He hasn't taken over a game (see Deebo verses Detroit, or the Rams a few times, the Cowboys playoff game, etc) and made the big play when the big play was needed and the chips were down. So while he is a far superior receiver to Deebo, he isn't that guy. With that said, he's a damn good receiver and I think is capable of a 100 yard game anytime he gets enough passes. He's a guy where you just should throw to him 10+ times a game. If you do that, he'll eat. I do wonder what the price tag will be. I want to keep him regardless.

I disagree. I think he's part of the reason we were putting up 30 points ppg in the five game win streak. Now with that said, yeah, 20 million a year would get us an elite guard and corner. We could do a lot, but I'd rather keep Aiyuk for now and just use draft capital on those positions of weakness. You can absolutely draft an elite guard in round 2 or center. But at receiver, it's less likely. If we were going to let a player walk of our core guys, the guy I let go is AA. Good locker room leader, but he carries a huge price tag and is getting older. He will be entering year 10 next year. Going to be interesting to see the cap magic that Paraag works this year. I hope the FO works with him and gives the team some playable rookies so we don't have to keep adding 10 million + a year guys.
