Just sucks that for his entire career he is not only going to be compared to Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy....but he is also going to be compared to Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Denzel Mims, etc. Lots of pressure to be good.
Dallas and Denver are both pass first teams so Jeudy and Lamb will get stats probably 900+ receiving yards
Aiyuk will be the third option on a run first team so he could very well end up with 700 receiving yards.
Dak prescott and Jameis Winston had huge number last year but to me those were empty stats, I'd rather my team be in the super bowl and mauling other teams than care what the comparisons are. Rings>stats
Yeah, even that is probably reaching high. I've got 5 targets a game average. 3 catches. Probably between 500-600 yards would be nice. Kittle and Deebo should still be the feature guys and with our pass protection, Jimmy isn't getting to 3 often. Kyle will scheme him up more as the year progresses.
I feel like Shanahan is going to up the passing attempts for Jimmy this coming season. Teams are going to make it a point to contain the run, but especially when they Mostert lined up next to Jimmy in the backfield. After his breakout performances in the postseason they're going to want to not got beat solely by him. It's just my opinion though, I think teams will take the Chiefs defensive blueprint and try to recreate it.
Aiyuk will be a good target for Jimmy once he settles into the offense and the speed of the game. I think he's the guy we needed to win on outside routes to open up the middle for Deebo and Kittle.
TBF, teams tried to stop our run all year and it only got better as the season progressed and esp. in the playoffs. Not many are geared towards stopping the run in a passing league today.
In short, I think we stay with the formula that works for them esp. given pass protection isn't exactly a team strength. LOL
Then again, nobody expected Kyle to go deep into the lab and come out with a dominant run game plan that utilized every type of run in the play book and not just outside zone...so he could flip the script for the passing game but that hasn't been in his history. It's typically around a 50-50 split. Atlanta, even with JJ was 32 passing attempts per game vs 26 runs.
Kyle called it all last year: Gap and Pulls, Power O, Counter, Iso, Zone (Belly, Tight, Inside, Mid, Outside, Wide zone), Book and Bible, Zone Counter, Pin and Pull, Fold, Trap and Wham, Draw, Jet Sweep, RPO, Speed Option, Veer, etc.
