And FWIW, Peter King said yesterday that when he went to the training camp, the best offensive player on the field for him was Jalen Hurd.
So the Aiyuk draft in a way worries me a little bit. What does that say about Hurd´s recovery?
I guess I should take it more as Aiyuk is the E-Man replacement.
The player is good, don´t get me wrong. I way prefer him than Denzel Mims for example and he´s a super fit in Kyle´ s offense.
I more than happy with him and Kinlaw. Two exciting players.

That being said Kyle saying that Aiyuk is his number one receiver with Ceedee is just so funny. I mean Kyle come on.^^

You think Kyle was lying about how he had the receivers ranked?

It's hard to justify aggressive trade-up for a guy who is 5'11. NOBODY had him WR5 or lower. Kyle may have loved him as a scheme fit, but he's not really a WR1 type stud in any way. Not sure anyone was in this draft, which is why they all fell after 15 despite their agents paying SI for a cover etc. No Julio Jones's, Dez Bryant, Megatron.

LOL! no it's not, if that's the guy you want
A bunch of guys who have never played the game and a bunch of guys who played the game but flamed run their mouths. (I'm talking about the "pro" analyst) Lets hope this kid is good. The draft is what it always is, a massive calculated gamble. Save yourselves some stress men and let it play out.

Aiyuk is an upgrade - Sanders was still coming back from the Achilles. His speed was zapped - but, he still found a way to get open.

Why do people prefer Mims? Kid is not even close to the route-runner or as fluid. Just isnt. I liked Mims in the 3rd not in the first no ways

Hurd isn't gonna play the same role as Ayiuk on the field. Even anything it's saying Pettis is in trouble.
Calling it now. He will have a game this season where he has a Receiving TD, Rushing TD, and Punt/kickoff return TD.

First it was the Dolphins and now Green Bay too. Kyle got his guy. Wasn't going to risk it.

Yeah this is silly. If Kyle had him ranked as high as he did or even if you make the assumption that he was fibbing cuz we didn't get Lamb that Lamb was actually the top WR for us, it's pretty clear Kyle was SUPER excited to get him...just look at the smile on his face when we made the selection.

That tells me at worst he was our #2 guy. So regardless of where others had him graded if you can ensure you get your guy then you make the move up and secure it. End of the day the trade up basically cost us our second 5th rounder. The 4th rounder was a gift from TB.

We'll see if the player evaluations were good ones in a few years but the trade definitely makes sense if they had Brandon graded so high. Too many WR needy teams picking ahead of us and few more within range to trade up.

Just sucks that for his entire career he is not only going to be compared to Ceedee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy....but he is also going to be compared to Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Denzel Mims, etc. Lots of pressure to be good.

Dallas and Denver are both pass first teams so Jeudy and Lamb will get stats probably 900+ receiving yards

Aiyuk will be the third option on a run first team so he could very well end up with 700 receiving yards.

Dak prescott and Jameis Winston had huge number last year but to me those were empty stats, I'd rather my team be in the super bowl and mauling other teams than care what the comparisons are. Rings>stats

Yeah, even that is probably reaching high. I've got 5 targets a game average. 3 catches. Probably between 500-600 yards would be nice. Kittle and Deebo should still be the feature guys and with our pass protection, Jimmy isn't getting to 3 often. Kyle will scheme him up more as the year progresses.

I feel like Shanahan is going to up the passing attempts for Jimmy this coming season. Teams are going to make it a point to contain the run, but especially when they Mostert lined up next to Jimmy in the backfield. After his breakout performances in the postseason they're going to want to not got beat solely by him. It's just my opinion though, I think teams will take the Chiefs defensive blueprint and try to recreate it.

Aiyuk will be a good target for Jimmy once he settles into the offense and the speed of the game. I think he's the guy we needed to win on outside routes to open up the middle for Deebo and Kittle.

TBF, teams tried to stop our run all year and it only got better as the season progressed and esp. in the playoffs. Not many are geared towards stopping the run in a passing league today.

In short, I think we stay with the formula that works for them esp. given pass protection isn't exactly a team strength. LOL

Then again, nobody expected Kyle to go deep into the lab and come out with a dominant run game plan that utilized every type of run in the play book and not just outside zone...so he could flip the script for the passing game but that hasn't been in his history. It's typically around a 50-50 split. Atlanta, even with JJ was 32 passing attempts per game vs 26 runs.

Kyle called it all last year: Gap and Pulls, Power O, Counter, Iso, Zone (Belly, Tight, Inside, Mid, Outside, Wide zone), Book and Bible, Zone Counter, Pin and Pull, Fold, Trap and Wham, Draw, Jet Sweep, RPO, Speed Option, Veer, etc.

I thought it seemed like the 49ers were scared of MIA taking Aiyuk (MIA sitting at #26). Once Aiyuk was taken, MIA traded out of 26. It makes little sense for GB to have their eye on Aiyuk then once Aiyuk was taken, GB decided "forget getting help for Rodgers (Aiyuk), let's just take Rodgers' replacement"

This. All of it is pure speculation anyway, nobody knows, including the 49ers. They said the same with Pettis and I highly highly doubt anyone was taking him in the 2nd. Just call a spade a spade, they wanted their guy and made sure to get him, no need to justify the move to anyone when you're the decision makers

Exactly. This is what they do. Panic or not, they don't want to risk losing "their guy." This locked-in approach has been cemented...even for a punter.

Went to look up the article about Packers GM saying Pettis was in play for them and found this brilliance from one of their fans trying to say 49ers fell for them being interested in Pettis.

The San Francisco 49ers, however, have the worst front office in the NFL. In early 2017, meddling trust-fund baby owner Jed York scared off good GM candidates like Brian Gutekunst and Elliot Wolf, and wound up settling for the inexperienced John Lynch. His staff was snookered by the Packers' smoke screen on Pettis

Wonder how they feel now...

Does their GM want Pettis? I'm up for a trade.

To me there's a Grand Canyon hole between Javon Kinlaw and the next group of defensive tackles. There's little to no difference in Lamb and Aiyuk. Other then height Aiyuk beats Lamb in every measurable. The 40 time is easily explainable with the core muscle injury. Take Aiyuk and put him in Oklahoma's offense and take Lamb and put him Arizona St offense and I guarantee you that scouts would have Aiyuk ranked about Lamb come draft time.

You're probably right. WRs and QBs are really dependent on each other and both can have inflated or diminished numbers depending on what system their college ran.

I was big on Aiyuk before the draft but I still think Lamb was the better overall player.

I just think it's so funny how Ruggs, Jeudy, Lamb, and Jefferson all had QB's drafted high and no one cared to factor that in.

If Ruggs or Jeudy was at Arizona State, I guarantee you people would think they are 2nd round picks because the draft experts wouldn't be as familiar with them.
