This.

No chance the refs call PI on the chiefs that late in the game. Not like they called anything on the chiefs to begin with.

If Sanders got run over because he needed to stop for an underthrow, there is no way that even a ref on some sort of payroll could ignore it. I know we had calls missed but there is no chance a DB who isnt playing the ball who runs over a WR wouldnt get a flag. Zero chance.

Pettis as a punt returner? Ugh....

I could be wrong about this, but didn't Pettis have problems fielding punts...as in dropsies? And when kyle saw that he kinda cooled on Dante as the PR? Or am i thinking of someone else?

They know they can't miss that call after that Saints Rams playoff game. Kelce and Mahomes had just pulled the underthrow trick on us a few drives before. Sanders is a vet
and knows how to get that call.

This. Despite all the capital spent on the defense, they gave up 21 points in 5 minutes. KC might have scored twice with 1:30. LOL

With the comparison of capital spent on offense, they more than did their job for 3.5 quarters and were up 10.

Defense needed to do what it was paid to do...make one single stop. Kyle's seen this dance before.

Lol come on NC, trying to shift more of the blame on defense? You know what them scoring 21 points in 5 minutes also says? That we didn't do s**t on offense but go 3 and out and give the ball right back to one of the leagues best offenses. The defense also did its job holding golden boy and that offense down for 3.5 qtrs, but when you get ZERO rest and have to get right back on the field cause the offense does squat, of course they will score. Offense also needs to do what they are paid to do, at least put together one drive. Highest paid player on the team put up the worst QB rating in SB history lol. Long story short, both sides of the ball failed miserably in the 4th qtr, don't even try to sway that to only the defense

Absolutely true. Good teams don't give up a lead that fast without help from both the O and the D. One decent drive resulting in a score could have made it impossible for KC to come back. Remember the Niners got the ball in good field position early in the 3rd quarter and failed to capitalize.

I've rewatched it a few times and it was an absolute perfect storm of events in all facets of the game those last 9+ Min: 1min before that that they stuffed the drive and picked Mahomes which should have sealed the deal. Trying to put the blame on the D is pretty funny and a bit disingenuous

Screw that, make Pettis do returns, he might actually benefit from it. This kid needs to be one of the starting receivers. I hope he is smart enough to pick up the nuances quickly. The kid doesn't need to increase his chance of injury by playing on special teams.

I think Pettis should be our punt returner, after all why not have the leading punt returner in the history of college football return punts right?

Because like the tin man, he needs to go see the wizard. Dude has shown no heart on the football field. Returning punts in the NFL is not for the faint at heart.

Hopefully he gets his mind right.

Pettis as a punt returner? Ugh....

It's better than watching James back there fair catch every ball. There is a chance Dante could muff or fumble a punt or two but his big play ability as he displayed in college would more than counteract his bad plays

Hopefully with our new receiver as well as Hurd and Trent Taylor coming back, we will have play makers again at the position. It would be nice for Samuel or BA to emerge as a true number one receiver because it would help Jimmy as a quarterback

Damn, should have been an easy TD. Jimmy likely cost us #6.

There still would have been about 1:30 left in the game and Niners only up by 3 and the Chiefs having all their timeouts I believe. Chiefs had just scored touchdowns on consecutive drives. And they scored another TD on the drive after this missed pass by Jimmy. Niners needed to score a TD on this drive and leave no time on the clock.

How does the Dline overcome bearhugs, tieups, etc?

It's also so maddening to me to hear people constantly say "oooh 21 points in 5 minutes." If Damian Williams goes down like running backs are taught to do in that situation, it was 14 points in 5 minutes.....something that happens in the NFL multiple times every week.

A lot of things cost a SB victory, not just one play

this

giving up 21 points in the 4th sure didn't help

No holding calls against the leagues best pass rush was also awesome. But I digress.....

The League has Agendas. Rewarding their new Poster boy and face of the League for the next Decade at least was their highest priority.

How many times are you going to make this exact statement? Geezus.

when i was at the Referee booth at the 2012 SB experience, a video mentioned that it's supposed to the top Refs for that game. Afterwards i found out that goodell made a change and the best graded Refs weren't used.
