BA can't even hold out without owing the team another year due to his lack of accrued time as a player. If he sits the entire year, foregoing all those millions, the niners still own his rights for another contract year, and still have franchise tag options (not that they'd likely use them other than to tag & trade). Save the freakouts until there's something to freak out over. This is looking like the Deebo situation all over again.

Your are 100% right. Both sides are negotiating incredibly hard. I know its hard for the fans and a boon for the media, but that's what is going on here.

He's getting extended. The Niners behavior makes no sense otherwise.

Would be nice.

it would be interesting if we reworked his fifth year option to pay him more just to get him for at least this season but I'm sure he would want a no tag clause - which wouldn't be good for the team.

BA is in no position to make the Niners give him more money this year and remove the tag. Niners know he is not missing game checks. Would be the easiest bluff to call.

Lol this guy.

I wonder if Trent is being held up until after this Aiyuk situation comes to a resolution.

Raiders and 9ers will never trade with each other of that caliber.

......let's see them prove me wrong!!!!

I wonder...if a poster, maybe, I don't know, a handful of us, thought this was a possibility? Nah, we need, deserve, fire and brimstone.

I don't understand the niners logic, if this is the case. Why not just up your offer months ago? Why go multiple months without even talking, if you were going to do this?

why risk causing a distraction for the team? Team chemistry etc. just weird, especially if it's only a million or two.

Negotiating these dollar amounts with the contract intricacies is incredibly difficult. Paraag is a ruthless negotiator. The team directed Aiyuk to the Patriots and Browns knowing he did not want to go to either, while Aiyuk has used the Steelers and Washington to create leverage. Each side is working diligently to get the other side to budge. It sounds like the 49ers moved a little, which is likely what they always intended to do, while using the events of the last couple days to manage his expectations. Aiyuk is likely the more emotional ego driven party in this negotiation - so giving a little and showing you care may go a long way.

Lol. BAs agent working the Adams trade instead of Lynch, the Raiders GM, and Adams agent?

That is a huge reach

call his bluff go play with Russ, his career would go south so fast, he'd be a cap casualty within 2 years we can sign him back (on a discount)

its funny because my buddy (massive NYG fan) is always on their forum page and Pretty Ricky has been there for a little bit. He called a ton of s**t right there.

At this pt Ricky is clearly locked in with some agents or something. He's called numerous contracts before they happened. He knows a little something.

I'll believe it when I see it

Rickey destroyed any credibility he had left with that tweet—ironically the first one from him that's actually positive for us.

Guy is a clown, he has been wrong, and now BAs agent was at Raiders camp because the 49ers want some player from the Raiders division? Lmao

I completely agree. I think this is all very short sighted by Aiyuk. He has the best chance of getting a huge third contract by staying with the 49ers, not going to the Steelers.
