Taylor was really good but I have no doubt he benefitted from playing with Rice in his prime. It took a lot of heat off him.

Maybe. Taylor usually makes it onto the top 100 draft steals in nfl history. We'll see.

Better hands than jerry. 2 most dangerous punt returner in the modern era next to whiteshoes.

"Taylor was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1986 NFL draft with the 76th overall pick. This was ranked by ESPN as the 25th Greatest NFL Draft Steal of all time.[2] "

He absolutely does not make a top 100 steals list as a 3rd rounder. Please explain yourself

Asking a lot for a rookie to hold the fort, but might not have a choice.

Im not hating on Aiyuk i think he'll be good but i still cant believe we didnt get Lamb or Jeudy. Those guys are gonna get close to 1000 yards as rookies.

They weren't available when Aiyuk was selected. Kinlaw is the guy you need to call into the office.

I stand corrected. Still seems odd to he cracked a top 100 steals list as a 3rd rounder

Not so crazy if you stick with the 80's or later. Joe was a 3rd rounder. Frank was a 3rd rounder. JT was a special talent. To this day, nobody could freeze all 10 players on a coverage team like JT. Uncanny gift. It's strange people don't appreciate him more in my opinion.

But that's what I'm saying. Yes Joe and Gore as 3rd rounders are far bigger steals imo. And that is not to disparage JT, he was awesome and one of my favorite players of all time. But if you look at his stats and accomplishments as a 3rd rounder, they don't stack up with guys like Joe or Gore.

This is why I hate these top whatever lists. How did they come to the conclusion that he was a top 100 steal for a 3rd rounder? I'm not disputing whether he was or not but what was their criteria? Yards gained? TD's? Impact? Years starting? Did they consider the team he had around him? Hard to compare a guy that played on one of the greatest dynasties with a player that was stuck on a loser.

I think its approximate value.

And Joe and frank are rated above JT. So, that makes sense.

Probably the best method for doing this is to take the players draft position, average all the AV of the players taken at that position, and find which ones contribute the most above the mean.

Probably, you can't go back too far because changes in the draft process ... such as contracts, number of picks and so on... contribute to changes in draft behavior by teams over time.

Anyway, here's the ESPN article. Joe is #2. Haley Clark on the list too.

I dunno. Makes sense to me.
See he's working out with Bourne, he's looking pretty jacked
