I hope he does, being a great LT I don't mind seeing him give up a pressure or sack in a long while, but man he got destroyed the whole game and it completely ruined our offensive flow along with mullen's bad plays.

All that hoopla about Trent being an upgrade over Staley, but I've yet to see it. This wasn't just one bad game and all the rest excellent showings. He's appeared slow of foot and not really the dominant guy he's been touted to be. This game was just abysmal; not what you'd want or expect of one of the best. Between that and McGlinchey embarrassing himself, plus the poor run and pass blocking, we were exposed. We needed Mostert's explosiveness. The sooner he returns, the better. Poor Mullens didn't have a chance, and the only reason CJ looked as good as he did, was they gave us the middle of the field because it ate up the clock and our line was crap. And while I'm complaining, we keep Pettis and let Sanu go? WTF? Oh well, on to the next game and thank God for Kittle!

IDK which one is worst.
Yeah it's a dead heat in a Zepplin race....used to it by now. Straight up comedy. He is still easily a top-five tackle in the NFL

I had tried to pump the brakes on fans instantly saying he was an upgrade over Staley. Physically, he is but consistent high level production game to game is what it's all about. Even then, overall, he's a really good player so let's see if he can get back to consistent and we can throw this game out as an anomaly. Hopefully.

He was out of football for a year and had zero preseason to get his feet wet.
Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, eh? He was one of the best in the game.

This is probably the most ignorant comment I have seen on the zone for some years now. Do you seriously think that Shanahan and Lynch are going to cut ties with one of the top tackles in the league, just because after not playing last season and having no pre season in his new team he is excessively rusty? Or are you just trolling?

When are we going to stop using this excuse for the OL though? We're going into Week 5.
And to TW's topic, he already had 3 stellar games right out of the gate so we can probably throw the off season excuses out the window for everyone.
Every OL knows this system like the back of their hands and have played together through the playoffs.
They're just playing very poorly right now but it's not because of a shortened off season nor continuity issues at this stage.
They'll get better!

Not making excuses for the o-line, just for Williams. He's a proven all pro. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Oh I couldn't agree more on that! Sorry, was just using him as an example related to the rest of the OL.

They don't need to "cut ties" with him. He's a FA after the season and will probably want more than $18 million a year. Is the tackle you saw against the Eagles worth that much? And don't give me that rust excuse. We're four games into the season already.

Remember Joe Staley getting manhandled by Chandler Jones? EVERY. SINGLE. TIME that we played? Yeah. Every player has a down game sometimes. It happened to Trent on Sunday, but that doesn't mean he all of a sudden isn't a great player. Chill.
