I think he will take a discount to stay here for sure. Probably 17 mil a year I hope. He knows this team healthy is still the best in the nfc

Yeah, he proved he'd rather sit out than play for a team he doesn't like.

I disagree with signing him to a long-term deal. He's on the tail end of his career. The salary cap is shrinking next season, according to everything I heard. A long term deal just hamstrings us.
Much better for the 49ers to use a 1st or 2nd round pick to draft his replacement and move forward. Much cheaper in the long run as well.
If the published reports I've read so far are true, the 49ers are moving away from Jimmy G. He won't be back. Why would you sign someone like Trent Williams?
Save the money to sign Warner and other pending FA's.

Careful. If you offer an opinion that is different from NT, people will call you stupid.

We should still be able to sign Trent next year and Warner the following year, I dont think Warner will hold out next year he's still under contract through '21. Depending on what they do with Ford def a restructure hopefully, people mentioning AA are mentioning the incorrect contract, we were either going to pay him or Buck, and rightfully so Buck as the better player would have received more $$. Richburg and Ford are the ones that are taking up cap space for no availability. We can find a way to shed those two contracts we could re-sign Trent and gear up for Warner the next year. Normally I would say we would have holes left at Center and DE but those guys have proven to be enigmas when it comes to injuries.

After watching Skule tonight, we need to find a way to retain his services in the offseason...

He's 32. OT's play well into their mid to late 30's. He's got one more big contract coming.

What other free agents would you rather sign than Trent Williams? This roster is so deep that they can win a super bowl even if Garoppolo wasn't here.

Andrew Whitworth is 38 years old and playing at a high level. Trent Williams hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. Sure, he had a few bad reps vs PHI and MIA, but he bounced back quickly to an elite level.
49ers are already short on draft picks. We don't need to create another need, especially at a premiere position. And if they go with a rookie QB, it's imperative that blind side is locked down.

Agreed, unfortunately the dude is just too old for a big deal.

Well, it looks like Trent Williams is the number one rated tackle in all of football! Per PFF. Just like I've been saying all along, he is still a top three tackle no matter how bad he did for two or three games. He has not allowed a pressure in the last three games. He is simply elite and I am so glad we have him. I want to re-sign him and all of you that were saying it might not be that smart to re-sign him or that he is not that good anymore, it may be time to eat a little crow.

He's an excellent tackle. He struggled in two games but since then he's been fantastic. I don't know if I trust PFF to tell me that, though, especially when they have Armstead rated as one of the best defensive ends in the NFL.
