AB! You have probably already posted this info but can we fit him and Staley if some interesting line jumbling is in the works?

This is good news, they'll likely lower his base, and guarantee it for 2020.

The comp pick would be in 2022, but yes a 3rd is best case scenario. I think they'll work out a new deal, he knows Kyle, and this seems like a perfect fit, love it.

Will the niners receive a 3rd rd comp in 2021 for losing Sanders in free agency?

Due to the $8M APY it's a 5th in 2021 for Sanders.

But we can't afford it!!!

Like we were saying NY...you just gotta restructure to lower the cap hit this year and extend out to next year(s) where we're loaded with cap space and virtually everyone locked up already.

I mean Joe is probably retiring people need to realize this.

I think you're right. He probably told the team that he likely won't be coming back. It's great that he didn't announce anything because the price for Williams would have been higher.

If the 49ers don't extend TWilliams, then he leaves and most likely can garner a 3rd round comp pick. If so, the trade is 2020 5th + 2021 3rd (probably late in round if 49er are good), and when TW leaves, they get a 3rd back (late 3rd comp).

I didnt think about it like that. Depending on the 49ers offseason acquisitions, then it could play out like that.

Great deal ! Win win for us . A rental for a 5th. Best case scenario he extends with us if not we are reimbursed

Tunsil was traded for two first rounders. Williams is a better player. This is an unreal trade.

Williams is kind of a dick. Getting into bar fights, suspended after testing multiple times for weed and assaulted Richard Sherman after a game. Not sure how well he meshes in the locker room or with the rest of the O-lineman.

I don't Remember Staley saying that.... He seems like the kind of team first kind of guy who would be willing to slide down if it helpes the team....

No he said exactly that. He will NOT be playing anything but LT. He's gonna retire guys

Link??

No joe is the only guy on the line athletically versatile enough to play guard or tackle. Joe would easily be a superstar Next to Center and he could beef up mcglinchey's pass Pro which sucks

I'm down with that since joe is all about the team ...William's seems like a guy who will revolt if we asked him to play guard plus hes such a dam good lt

At 31, he's not gonna ask for a crazy amount though.

why do you think he didnt play last year

Yup! Dude you can't be upset with this. He's literally the best LT in football and still only 31 (with a yr off to recover).

Now the Buckner trade and letting Sanders go doesn't look so bad. There is no way they could have done this if they had to pay those 2 all that money. $22 million saved for next year alone compared to the rookie contracts of Aiyuk and Kinlaw.
