I'm thinking if we sign Trent, Jimmy is done and we're drafting a 1st round QB. If we don't sign him, we're riding with Jimmy and drafting a Tackle.

We don't need an unknown at LT.

We'll find a way to keep Trent.
It's the secondary and other key pieces (Juice, Hyder etc) that I'm concerned about losing.

Hyder was like found money. With Bosa and if Ford plays again he's rotational but good depth. If Ford doesn't retire I think he owes us a big contract reduction rewrite for this free year.

I've talked to some of my sources, they've told me how Dee and Richburg have no leverage, and they'd advise the 49ers to get at least Dee to take a massive pay cut, or post june 1 cut him.

I thought ford was nearly uncutable because of size of his contract remaining and how big the injury settlement would be to cover it as an injured player which he could prove to be well into the offseason.

It depends on if he could pass a physical, he has $11.6M GTD for injury, and fully on April 1, 2021, but they may approach him like they did with McKinnon, who had his base salary GTD for injury, fully on April 1, 2020, and he took a massive pay cut, all the way down to the minimum, possible he could take a huge pay cut, and eliminate his 2022 and 2023 contract years.

For someone as good as he is, I notice he has either a bad play or a penalty on some crucial drives. Still a beast, but feels like he's on the downswing of his career.
And I think with how bad the rest of options are, unless Brunskill plays lt (seriously, has Brunskill played every spot on the line except LG these two years?), they must resign him.

it's actually good for us that he's not played to an ALL PRO type this year, it gives us some kinda leverage on not to give him too much money..

I hope we don't regret extending him - he seems less than what he originally was.

He allowed 1 pressure yesterday and is consistently 1 of the highest graded OL all season

I think if we draft a top QB next season or retain Jimmy having Trent would be ideal. McG on the right side needs to gain mass, he looked like a big TE this year and was pushed around in pass coverage. Our IOL needs work except maybe Tomlinson.

Some are low on Tomlinsen, but he doesn't break the bank and can do very well if he's got a good center next to him.
