Pay the man!!

Look at the highest paid LTs right now, Left Tackle Contracts and Salaries | Over The Cap

Bahktiari at $23M a yr, $30M GTD($30M Fully)
Tunsil at $22M a yr, $40M GTD($30M Fully)
Stanley at $19.75M a yr, $70.866M GTD($64.166M Fully)
Bolles at $17M a yr, $40M GTD($21M Fully)

Crazy part is all of those deals were signed this past year, I have no clue what Trent's market will be, I've said between $18M to $20M a yr, but honestly, it's about GTD money, he's easily top 5 at LT, so somewhere in those numbers above, not sure where.

I want Trent back, I just hope he's not going to pit other teams against us.

Wouldn't you? I know I would.
He wants to stay here.

I don't see Trent doing that, he seems like he genuinely loves being a 49er, and he loves Shanahan, I can see him taking less money per year, for more GTD money, I have him pegged at $18M a yr, with $41M in GTD money($38M fully). I really wish we never did the reworked deal where we agreed to not tag him, I hate the idea of losing him, and at best getting back a 5th rd pick due to the whole 10yrs accrued rule. But, then again, I doubt he'd be playing on the franchise tag, nor could we afford to pay him the tag number for 1yr. I just hope this offseason they get Trent, Juice, and hopefully K'Waun, Verrett & Hyder re-signed, plus extend Warner. If they're genuine about Jimmy being their QB, he'll have to have his deal redone, if they restructure him they'd save $18.42M, that would help keeping our guys.

Why wouldn't he? He loves Shanahan.

That's exactly what I see him doing. Can't say I blame him for wanting to get as much as he can for his service. I just don't think we'll be able to afford a bidding war for him. Unfortunately I see us drafting his replacement.

Yeah, it could go that way.

Unlike KWilliams, Juice, and Hyder, I am not worried about big Trent's diminishing skills as he ages. At age 32, he can get a 5 year deal and I'd be okay with that.

Completely agree. Shoot if Andrew Whit can do it no doubt in my mind Williams has 3 years minimum left in him playing at a high level
We know he loves Kyle, so if we make an honest offer as shown above and let him retire a Niner it may be easy.

the honest offer would need to more guaranteed money in the deal. I thnk Paraag could work his magic here

Here you guys go again really thinking a guy isn't looking for top dollar b/c he says how much he likes the team. That's just him and his agent negotiating in the public. Him and his agent would be utterly retarded if another team offers more than the Niners and they don't let the Niners know so they can get a better deal. Would you do that? Hell no.

Yup, if another team is going give him the elite left tackle money that he wants, he's gone. He made it very clear yesterday that he's been in the league for 11 years and while he wants to be on a winner, he needs to get paid. He also mentioned that elite left tackles never hit free agency, and it would be fun to see what kind of offers he'll get.

If we lose Trent Williams, the offseason is a disaster.

I think he ultimately re-signs - but, I just hope it's not going to be in the $30M range.
