Yup, if another team is going give him the elite left tackle money that he wants, he's gone. He made it very clear yesterday that he's been in the league for 11 years and while he wants to be on a winner, he needs to get paid. He also mentioned that elite left tackles never hit free agency, and it would be fun to see what kind of offers he'll get.

If we lose Trent Williams, the offseason is a disaster.

Yeah, the Niners need to stop with contract clauses that screw them over. Such has Trent can't be tagged

The only saving grace is every team is in limbo about what's gonna happen to the cap. If it does get reduced not many teams are going to be able to offer him huge deals. At least that's what I told myself to get to sleep last night

Why do fans continue to believe players will show "loyalty" and take less money?

Kittle didn't.
Garoppolo didn't.
Warner won't.

The ONLY thing players will do is structure the contract to make it work for other players. But their gtd money is unchanged.

Your favorite player is/was a mercenary. The way it should be.

Desperation and fear.

If I were a QB in a situation like what Tom Brady had in New England I would. If I were Jimmy G here I would provided the contact was fully guaranteed. Outside of that, hell no. Get all that you can get while you can get it.

If Trent leaves the 49ers, I doubt it will be because he felt he wasn't offered enough money. I think Kyle would allow Verrett, Juice, KWilliams, Hyder, all leave just to have big Trent back. If he leaves, it'll be because the team wants to move on from Jimmy and Trent isn't waiting around to see what happens with the QB position (if rookie).

Ultimately I would too and I love JV
Jags probably throw a bunch of money at him to protect lawrence. They got 100 million in cap space.

And with the CA taxes, I don't think any NFL player is clamoring to head to Santa Clara.

That's good. Let's see if he sticks to it.

Reports came out that "The Eraser" got offered more by Oakland. Hard to tell overall since you rarely see the contracts not signed but let's not act like it's pure fantasy.
He's probably the best player on offense, so yeah. They gotta just load up the farm and overpay. Even though the cap is tight.

This is why paying other mediocre players like Arik Armstead and Jimmie Ward is just dumb

Yup. And not just that, but you've got the 2nd and 4th highest paid players not contributing at all in Dee Ford and Weston Richburg.
