It depends on how sentimental he is and how much he believes in this team. But this is a business, and these guys usually go where the money takes them.. and I dont blame them.

If we go a rookie QB (unless they confirm that rookie QB will sit until fully ready), he's outta here.

I disagree. I think he'll come back. But we'll have to make him a legit offer.

You want to bring back Williams because you gave up a couple of picks to get him. But, if his contract demands are too high a guy that might fit could be LT Alejandro Villanueva on a cheaper deal.

With Trent, the line sucked so why pay a premium when the money could be used elsewhere.
Problem is, if we lose Trent the line will suck even worse. And at 18mil that's a decent price for him.
I think he will test the market and if a good team comes with significantly more money on the table, Trent is gone.
We didn't know Lynch had Trent in mind or that Staley was retiring suddenly. I'm sure Lynch has his plan b' and c's
That's okay. I deserved it.
I didn't realize premier LTs where now getting 24mm dollar a year contracts...
18mm would actually be a good deal... With that said, if we are going to pay premium bucks for a LT, we better have a premium QB. Moreover, we better be willing to upgrade more of the line. Like I said, you can block all day long on the left, but if there are holes everywhere else, its going to be exploited.
At the end of the day, something has got to give. You cant sign everyone.

#49ers and Pro Bowl LT Trent Williams had extensive discussions last week on a contract extension, per sources. Doing something before Week 17 would have helped SF's salary cap. It didn't happen, and an elite tackle could hit free agency, but SF is clearly prioritizing Williams

Wow, I totally missed this tweet. I'm guessing Paraag tried to lowball him and Trent told them to kick rocks. He wants that Bakhtiari money.

I want Trent to stay more than anything. But to see a line with Quentin Nelson and Trent Williams next to one another. Those two could block a 6 foot wave from crashing down on a beach.

I'm hoping Trent comes back and plays for us, but if Trent leaves, I think Nick getting back 100% and the fact that they have the 12th and 43rd pick in the draft, I can see a Left Tackle at pick 12 and a healthy Nick pushes the DE/Pass rusher to pick 43 - this doesn't lose us much if those picks are good picks. I think ShanaLynch will be able to afford him. I think he's valuable enough that they will throw a significant amount of cap space at him. We shall see.

Yes I do think they re-sign Trent, as well as Juice, as for the rest of our UFAs, I can see them not being brought back, Trent & Juice are the top priorities IMO. As for Hyder, Verrett, and K'Waun, I hope they retain them, but I wouldn't go crazy for Hyder or Verrett, 1 has 2 good years, and 1 has a career full of injuries, plus the cap could go down a TON.

I really hope we bring back Hyder. He was durable this year and that's what I loved about him just as much as his production. But I agree it's possible we may not be able to afford him and will opt to put our hopes in Jordan Willis, a younger player with some upside who had 2.5 sacks with us in 7 games, a career high lol. If money is the issue, I'd imagine us drafting a couple young pass rushers and bringing back Willis to compete for the reserve spots behind AA and Bosa for 2021 if we can't get Hyder back.
