Tunsil was traded for two first rounders. Williams is a better player. This is an unreal trade.

Williams is kind of a dick. Getting into bar fights, suspended after testing multiple times for weed and assaulted Richard Sherman after a game. Not sure how well he meshes in the locker room or with the rest of the O-lineman.

Well in William's defense, Richard is a dick.

All good, Williams is a major upgrade.

All decade T, but I hope Staley stays so that we have serious depth up front.

with that said, won't we get serious cap room if Staley retires? Or would that cap space be eaten up by Williams?

Their cap space is currently about the same. I have no idea how that works when a guy retires

Well, if Staley was undecided... the Niners just decided for him. Can't have both.
Wonder if Williams had a preference to Shanny to make this trade possible and not with the Vikes
Niners 2020 NFL draft picks:

Rd1a. Javon Kinlaw (DT)
Rd1b. Brandon Aiyuk (WR)
Rd5. Trent Williams (OT-steal of the draft)

Lynch is a smooth operator...

Lynch is finally starting to look like a real NFL GM.

Brilliant move.

From the 2nd worst team in the league tot he 2nd best in 3 years and now Lynch is starting to look like a real GM? What do you think of practically every other GM out there?

Staley retires (11.5 mil), Goodwin cut/traded (4 mil), Thomas cut (4.4 mil)

Williams and Sherman

When I didn't see a reference to their beef on the initial page,
I knew it would not go unmentioned beyond page 2

TBH though, Sherm has Mellowed a lot since those days

Dick Sherman, at least his name isn't Prick Williams.

Dude, if he leaves after next year we almost for sure get a 3rd round comp pick for him. And if he re ups with us we get a franchise left tackle for the next 5 years for a 3rd and a 5th, STEAL

He's not leaving he's gonna get a fat contract extension

That's not what I read from that tweet. Sounds like we're going to bump up his pay for this year only. Then he walks? Hope not?

Seems like this is THE year to lock in good guys on long term deals if you can. It will seem like a bargain by this time next year assuming the cap goes up dramatically over the next few years as expected.

No way they make this move without knowing Staley's mindset. Either Staley has told them he is retiring or he has told them he's willing to play G if they can improve the OL by getting Williams.
Yes!!!!! Finally O line.

STALEY RETIRES

it's really hard to think of a better way to replace joe staley if he is indeed retiring. they could have drafted wirfs i guess, if they knew, but there's a much better chance trent is a drop in replacement- if not improvement- this season.

obviously you have to be concerned about money and the future but weighing the options this seems like the best one.
