Biggest shocker isn't the implication that Joe Staley may retire.

It's that the 49ers have an ELITE GM. WOW LOL. Only John Lynch could smooth things over between Snyder and Shanahan.

I never thought twice about TW coming to the 49ers because of this reason, Snyder having a grudge vs the Shanahans. I can't believe some other team out there couldn't offer more.

I'm sure they did but Williams wanted to come here. He can say he didn't but I don't believe it, especially when Vikings have 13 picks today

Ah yes, right. Williams probably vetoed some trades. Wanted to come to SF. Smart man.
I expected Joe to retire. Why else would we have gone this long without an answer? I hope he's in good health.

Wonder if Williams had a preference to Shanny to make this trade possible and not with the Vikes

Definitely did and don't believe Williams denying it

I mean Joe is probably retiring people need to realize this.

This. Staley isn't moving to RG, he's moving to his living room couch. I also think the FO likes Brunskill at RG with some competition from whoever.
Sounds like Staley is hanging em up

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Staley has to know that this year will be his best chance to win a SB. If he wants one he will move to guard or RT.

I might be wrong but I totally agree. Joe knows this team is as good as any team in the league. This is a push to get Joe that ring. Ask yourself this is Joe Staley the type of player to just put his team in a bind with a out of the blue retirement. No need to restructure Trent Williams contract if Joe is retiring.

FYI Laremy Tunsil's extension has a $22M/yr APY and $50M in guarantees.

Can't complain about Brunskill at all. He should've been playing instead of Person in the SB.

Do people realize that this is the only year that the 49ers have "caps issues"?
We're about to win 3 SB's in a row!

And there it is.

I wonder what health concern specifically changed his mind since the week before the Super Bowl when he said he was gonna play out his contract?

In any case, thanks for all the years and hard work, Joe.
