Damn, I hate the fact this damn team couldn't have won a SB for him along with guys like Gore

Same. Absolutely gutted for him.. Poor Joe.. I'm happy to welcome Trent on board. He's a captain and leader like Joe was for us, and should do well. We seem like we're really comfortable with our depth. I guess we'll worry about CB and S next year.

Expecting us to maybe take an IOL and LB in this draft and then rummage UDFA like we usually do.

Dude, if he leaves after next year we almost for sure get a 3rd round comp pick for him. And if he re ups with us we get a franchise left tackle for the next 5 years for a 3rd and a 5th, STEAL

He's not leaving he's gonna get a fat contract extension

That's not what I read from that tweet. Sounds like we're going to bump up his pay for this year only. Then he walks? Hope not?

Seems like this is THE year to lock in good guys on long term deals if you can. It will seem like a bargain by this time next year assuming the cap goes up dramatically over the next few years as expected.

If the NFL plays games this season without fans in the stands the cap will actually go down before it jumps back up the following year.

Interesting! Strange times we live in!
Staley is coming off either hand or finger surgery.

Those are pretty crucial components to not only Oline play, but life in general after retirement.

It sucks to deal with pain in the hands/feet later on in life. You use them so much...

I'm more concerned with how Trent Williams and Richard Sherman will exist on the same team after Trent slap the s**t out of him after a game.

But they are all grown up now 🤔😆

Men talk s**t, fight and get over it.

I want to see Staley on the coaching staff or in the FO yesterday

same, but i don't see him doing any of that. he's gonna be on NFL live soon.

Biggest shocker isn't the implication that Joe Staley may retire.

It's that the 49ers have an ELITE GM. WOW LOL. Only John Lynch could smooth things over between Snyder and Shanahan.
Truth. Lynch's personality is why GMs are willing to deal with him and players want to come here. He has credibility as a former top-tier player and a history of good relationships with other teams from his media gig. Apart from the Thomas/Foster mess, he has exceeded expectations.

Don't under Why the Williams trade is/was contingent on Staley retiring ? Why not have both and give Staley one more crack at a ring ?
BOOM

Jonnie L not playing around, using the 'furd degree and playing chess with checkers players

Luv ya Joe, thanks for the memories.

I don't Remember Staley saying that.... He seems like the kind of team first kind of guy who would be willing to slide down if it helpes the team....

No he said exactly that. He will NOT be playing anything but LT. He's gonna retire guys

Link??

Google it. He said it on a video this off season. Maybe he changes his mind but I highly doubt he moved inside at this pt in his career

I googled it....could not find anything where he said anything that sounded remotley like that....

Having said that, I did see a report that the Williams deal was going to be based on Staleys decision which makes me think he really might retire.

But that does not change the fact that Staley would never say something so diva-ish and selfish. He is a team first guy and if he stays I dont think he would mind moving if it was for the betterment of the team. If he stays...
This is what this offensive line needed. No disrespect to Staley who is a hell of a player but Trent brings an intimaditon factor a nastiness to go along with his talent.something the niners been lacking for years

Can't afford both. Neither was going to change positions. And Staley wants to retire.
Anyone knows what will be his salary this year?
Is it more than the 11 millions joe was suppose to gain?

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Wow, ShanaLynch have stones passing on Wirfs. It doesn't sound like the TW trade was done when they made that pick.

All of this.
Adam S. confirmed Staley informed them of his retirement BEFORE the draft and they STILL passed on Wirfs.

Unreal.
