Damn, I hate the fact this damn team couldn't have won a SB for him along with guys like Gore

Same. Absolutely gutted for him.. Poor Joe.. I'm happy to welcome Trent on board. He's a captain and leader like Joe was for us, and should do well. We seem like we're really comfortable with our depth. I guess we'll worry about CB and S next year.

Expecting us to maybe take an IOL and LB in this draft and then rummage UDFA like we usually do.

I'm with you with regards to Joe. The timing of this works out well for the 49ers as a team though. If Joe stayed this year, the 49ers would have probably needed CB, S and T next year in the draft or FA. That would be brutal
Is he an upgrade over Joe Staley at least? I'm feeling more sadness than excitement right now
Wholly Jeez.

wo wo wo the body's not even cold yet. Staley has consistently been a better run blocker than Trent. Trent has been better overall throughout his career but Staley has been a beast.

Adam S. confirmed Staley informed them of his retirement BEFORE the draft and they STILL passed on Wirfs.

Unreal.

What if the FO didn't think he was good?

LOL

Great move to get Williams and it looks like Staley actually helped!

Wow, ShanaLynch have stones passing on Wirfs. It doesn't sound like the TW trade was done when they made that pick.

Absolutely stupid.

I dont know. Getting a veteran LT who knows the system in a shortened off-season probably works out. Risky move, hope it pays off.
Happy and sad.

End of an era with Staley.

Love the trade for Williams - he'll be able to step right in and make an impact.

At the very least it's a wash. But in 2020 I'd say there's a good chance Trent would be an upgrade over a 36 year old Staley

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are a ballsy combo, my god.
I have no words basically.
I´m so sad for Joe. What a 49ers legend.
Sux Staley wants to retire. But at least we just got lucky in replacing him.
giving up a 3rd next year is the same as giving up a 4th this year, so we really got him for a 4th and 5th... pretty good deal to get one of the best LT in the game for the next 4 years

Wirfs is a RG to RT if needed.
