I'm on the fence about whether Juice is coming back but I do think they'll get something done with Trent.

I'm the opposite - but, got to keep the faith.

Really!? I think maybe Juice but not TW. He's been pretty vocal on seeing what his worth is around the league. I think it will be a real test of loyalty and I do believe he'll be back.I think he's trying to squeeze out as much as possible but at the end of the day he takes a couple million less to come back.

$21-22m per and stays
vs.
$22-24 to go elsewhere

I think necessity dictates that the 49ers get something done with Williams. There's already plenty of holes on the roster without creating new ones. If for some reason it doesn't then they need to pivot quickly to some of other other veteran tackles that will be out there such as Reiff.

You should see IG.

every single 9ers post says "breaking" and it's hardly breaking news.

kids that think they are reporters yet don't know what the word means.

just like "unprecedented"

Pretty sure no where was this called breaking news. Just simple insider follow up on where things stand. There is a difference.

I get it if you just simply don't want them to take the chance on an Injured player. Especially with this team's history. He is a risk and you would need to protect yourself in his contract in the event he was not ever able to recover. But you do not know If he will be ready for the start of the season, a couple of weeks into the season, or miss the entire season. The best thing you can go off of is was what his team said, and that was that they were hopeful for mid-August. You wouldn't say that unless there was at least some sort of chance of it.

Of those that suffered an Achilles tendon rupture, 26% did not ever return to play in the NFL. Players who did return to play in the NFL took an average of 9 months to recover after the date of injury.

U don't need to be a doctor to google some results or to know about history of the injury (considering we've had players w that injury)
Here's some 'breaking news'. Jimmy will break something if they don't sign Williams.

No need to take it personal. It wasn't really a shot at you or your post. Just funny, because its stating the obvious.

Trust me that's me taking something personal . We know he's not signed so anything posted other than he's signed or walking is pretty much lame duck news and or fairly obvious. Just glad to see the communication is still going good between both sides and hopefully we hear good news soon.

So based on the average between 2010-2015 he would be ready between weeks 4-8. I think because he is an offensive lineman he has a better chance to be ready to play sooner than another position. So even if his being ready by training camp is overly optimistic it is definitely in the range of possibility. 75% of players did return to play in the NFL. how many of that 26% were old and already contemplating retirement or were already barely able to make a roster as is it was before the injury. Also, it is a lot more likely that an offensive lineman will bounce back from this injury than say a running back.

I don't want to beat a dead horse anymore but IMO if you can lock him up to a multi-year deal relatively cheap, that protects you from the chance that he does not recover from his current injury. Then even if he is not ready for the start of the season, I think he would be a smart long-term investment for the team. (all this talk is in the scenario we lose Trent to another team ofcourse).

Well, well, well...

I see the 49ers are handing out contracts to free agents. And, what's this? NO CONTRACT FOR TW??? But, but, but, according to all of you TW is worth $80 KAZILLION per year! Where is his deal? Why don't the 49ers just lock him up already?

Could it be that he just is not worth it (yes)? Could all of you who want to back up a Brink's truck for the guy be wrong (yes)? Is the demand for TW really going to be that high (no)? Can a better, and much cheaper, replacement be found through the draft (yes)?

No more excuses. No more, "well, we don't know what the cap number is yet, so that's why he isn't signed." No more BS. The 49ers ARE signing players. The 49ers are handing out some fiscal rewards. Brunskill and EMan are examples of this.

So? Where's the big money for TW? Why isn't he signed? Why haven't the 49ers extended an offer? Why are they willing to let him test free agent waters???

If the niners sign Trent Williams for what about 21 million per year on a three or four your deal whatever it may be are you going to come back in here and admit you were wrong? Thanks

Yes

Will you?

You really going to say that? That is hilarious

Don't know about that last comment from the peanut gallery.....but of course I will. Although now it's looking like who the hell knows. I may have to eat a whole crow pie after betting Russel Wilson stays with Seattle

I think it's a political thing. I think.
