3 quality OL for 20 million or less on a per year basis? We could easily get Villanueva+Mack+a guard for less than 20 million.

Not saying that is my first choice, but if T. Williams wants 20+ on a 4-5 year basis, then I am fine moving Brunskill to LT, signing Mack for C, and looking at the draft for someone like Slater to come in and battle for the starting LT spot, and if Brunskill wins, then Slater can slide into LG, and Tomlinson can shift over to RG. A OL of Brunskill-Slater-Mack-Tomlinson-McGlinchey is not bad, I also would be looking for a C/Guard early in the draft to back up Mack ,and look for a OT late to groom as a swing T.

Villanueva is barely started caliber. You don't cheap out when you have $$

He was graded as the best LT in the league last season. What's your expectations?
This is coming from the same guy who says he isn't good based on how long he's waiting to sign a contract....
I want you, if you would, to compare the offensive line play between the two years of 2019 to 2020.
Give it your honest evaluation.
In 2019, I don't think anyone would argue that the 49ers boasted one of the top O-lines in the league. Was it perfect? Nope! No line ever is. But it was good enough to keep Jimmy on his feet and pave the way for one of the most effective ground games anyone has ever witnessed.
In 2020, however, the protection fell apart. Jimmy got whacked and hurt so badly that he was lost for the season. Mostert got whacked. Coleman got whacked. We were down to our third string option until he got whacked and was lost.
What was the difference between 2019 and 2020? Our left tackle hung up his cleats and the team signed TW to fill the void.
The evidence is in the results. You point to rankings? I point to mangled ankles and scrambled brains. Was some of that just plain bad luck? Without question. Was all of it due to bad luck? What are you smoking?
TW ain't worth it.

Dream scenario is to have both Trent Williams and Slater for the next 5 years. Add Mack with those two and our Oline goes from a weakness to a strength. And if we are bringing back Jimmy who is not mobile at all and injury prone, We need to protect him at all cost.

Are you daft? The line in 2020 was a mishmash of players. For gods sake we literally had to start an UDFA rookie at C week 1 it was so bad. We had problems at C/G basically all season.
If you think Trent Williams was at all part of the issue then you just have a personal vendetta against him. No unbiased person can watch his play and say "meh he was mediocre/average"

Imagine watching our plug and play line last year and thinking TW was the issue.

Damn... pinning the play of McGlinchey and the center on T Will? Glinch regressed so badly on pass pro which led to possibly the worst pass protection from a RT that we have seen in the history of the franchise. Trent Williams is not the problem. Get a competent center and right tackle
