We will know tomorrow the chances of him staying. He will have a general idea of what other teams are offering him.

Lol, for real though
T. Williams needs to be given our BEST AND FINAL offer Tuesday night, if he declines and wants to test FA, at that point, we need to immediately be talking to other FA's along the OL and try to improve our line, with or without T. Williams. If we don't pay Trent, we could easily grab Linsley to be our C for a long time, and look to bring in a good RG, while sliding Brunskill to LT.

So going into the draft our OL would be Brunskill-Tomlinson-Linsley- FA-McGlinchey. We should look at a OT early, and a C/Guard type, who can backup Linsley and both Guard spots. The OT we draft, can be our swing T and future replacement if Brunskill or McGlinchey decline or we let McGlinchey walk in a year or two.

Not bad, Bob - I can dig it. Just worried about Brunskill being the solution at LT, if we don't sign Williams.

If he is not signed by tomorrow morning, you can kiss him goodbye.

Not necessarily true. Not something you want to see happen because the chance is there but given the low cap space this year teams may not be willing to break out the huge bucks. Obviously having a team like the Colts with lots of cap space isn't ideal but there's a pretty good OL draft. Teams may prefer to go younger/cheaper and use the cap for other spots but we'll see.

Plus there may be a part of him where he wants to be here so an offer from another team would have to be really out there to get him. Will the Colts go for it? I dunno...like I said I hope we don't find out.

If he does sign else where it will suck but may end up being a blessing in disguise like it was with Sanders - Aiyuk.

I think we can upgrade the line with those $20M he's asking for. It's not game over if we don't sign him, not even close.

He said he wanted to test the market - so you can't blame him for seeing what else is out there. That's the chance the they took, by not having the franchise tag option.

Agreed. There are other ways to create a strong offensive line. I want Trent but if we end up not paying a free agent 20+ mil it is not the end of the world. We acquired Trent initially as a band-aid for the loss of Staley. We all knew this had the possibility of being a one-year lease. We just need to have a backup plan. There are plenty of options available to us via free agency or the draft.

Chances are we already offered Trent are max for what we are willing to pay him. That would have been the smart play as you would want to try to keep him from testing free agency. Teams will now make him offers and we will see where we stack up against those offers. Something tells me another team is going to offer him more than we will be willing to go. The question then becomes would he take a slight discount to re-sign with us? If I had to bet my life on it. I would be betting he won't be back with the Niners but we definitely still have a shot at resigning him.
Hope he is next

I don't think so.

I actually think it's likely he waits until the negotiation period opens up so he can get a heavy offer from the Colts on the table to get more from us.
