Wave goodbye to QB killer Trent Williams. I hope KC signs him. Mahomes will get murdered like Jimmy G. did.

Christ the glue must smell amazing where you live.

saying we offered 20 but he wants 24

Kick rocks.....24mm? No way I would be paying that for a 33 year old tackle.

Agree.

Agree.

I would overpay 3 mil a year for a top 2 LT for the next few years

Everyone says that now but will cry when he is playing well for the colts at 24 per year lol.

went from buck isn't worth 21 per year to man we shouldn't have traded buck.

I don't mind an "overpay" (whatever that means) so long as the Niners have an out after 3 years.

I don't think they can afford to be juggling left tackles, its kind of a crucial position. If you don't get Williams back, you're likely looking for a replacement in the draft this year or next anyways.

Reiff would come a lot cheaper, knows the offense so he's ready to go Day 1 and with the savings they could go after another major free agent if they wanted to. For a year or two he'd be fine and he's played both left and right tackle so if you move on from McGlinchey next year and draft a left tackle, you simply shift Reiff over to the other side.

In other words, don't go cheap if you are trying to protect a QB that already has injury concerns throughout his history. And certainly don't go cheap if you want to develop a younger QB to take over as the franchise QB.

It is a crucial position. It is a risky move. It would hurt a lot if he is not ready towards the start of the season definitely. His signing would not exclude the drafting of a tackle though. As ideally, we would have two great ones on a team. You could kick the rookie out to RT or Fisher. I do agree it would be hard on us if fisher wasn't able to play and we had to roll with what is on our current roster. It is kind of a risky move but if Fisher came back to what he was fairly early it would be a home run for us.
if you can't pay the best LT in football elite money....then who the f**k can you pay that type of money?

It's about the GTD cash end of the day not the APY. SF is getting bargain bin prices all off the place elsewhere....can't do that for every player.

IF they can't resign Trent, IMO it's an epic failure on the FO....ain't nobody give a s**t about resign a FB and a injury prone (but good) CB to a 1 yr deal, if you lose out on Trent.

This. Completely worth the overpay

A 3T? Hmmm, nope. Not that either.
Id expect Williams to be thankful the 49ers gave him the shot and invested in him if he is a high character guy.
Seems this is wishful thinking

And gave him more guaranteed money when they didn't need to
