Seems this is wishful thinking

I mean SF has done everything right for this dude... traded for him to get him out of that s**t hole, took away his tag, gave him more cash upfront because he didn't get paid for a yr, brought in his OL coach to be his coach, made him a TC.

s**t dude, he's gonna get stupid money no matter what. He's already got stupid money.

I think Trent will go for the money. He's 33, probably his last big contract. I don't think the team or loyalty is factoring into it at all. Fans will hate that but he had to go what's best for him. My guess is that if we sign trip we probably address other needs in the draft. If we don't sign Trent then we probably go with Rochon Slater and then pick up other needs via free agency.

Trent has already mentioned he thinks he will follow Peter's path and sign another contract after this one. After what he went through at Washington, wouldn't shock me at all if its not 'all about the money' and at least some about team culture or chances at success where he goes or stays.

This is why I can't see them not coughing up a extra few million. They've already invested a ton of resources - not to mention the two draft picks. I mean f**k if they can't close the deal it is a huge fail by the FO. They should have understood this possibility the moment they tried to trade for him.

They've been trying to resign him since the end of this yr I guess...Trent was always gonna test the waters.

I'm assuming SF will have a chance to match any offer. So unless KC can pull some stupid money out of their ass and play with 15 people on the field in 2021, SF will have a good chance to get it done. INDY is the wild card as well.

I mean if SF doesn't get it done, then they royally f**ked up.

potentially -although with that TW money maybe they think they can sign 2 OL. not sure.
got the notification and my heart almost dropped lol

I gotta be honest, the longer this drags out I'm starting to get a bit worried he will head to KC. From his POV think about it...it's almost a guaranteed super bowl appearance in the AFC with no more Brady and Mahomes Under center. With that said, I hope my hunch is wrong and he chooses the faithful. Let's get this done.

if you can't pay the best LT in football elite money....then who the f**k can you pay that type of money?

It's about the GTD cash end of the day not the APY. SF is getting bargain bin prices all off the place elsewhere....can't do that for every player.

IF they can't resign Trent, IMO it's an epic failure on the FO....ain't nobody give a s**t about resign a FB and a injury prone (but good) CB to a 1 yr deal, if you lose out on Trent.

I think they will sign Trent. But having said that, its a team game, i wouldn't want to pay a left tackle QB level money. Might as well put Jimmy at left tackle (hypothetically speaking) and draft a QB with the 12th pick in the '21 draft.

In other words, if Trent's asking so much money that your entire team cap structure is affected, I think you have to walk away from a deal like that.

Yeah..I want Trent back bad but within reason.

He's up there in years so we can't let him hold the team hostage or give him everything he wants without reason. We know he's a stud LT in this offense so having that security is a must but this draft is also pretty good at OT. It would suck having traded for him and not keeping him past the one lost season but it wouldn't be the end of the world and in some ways could prove to be a blessing in disguise with us saving all that money to use elsewhere and then possibly getting a younger and way cheaper player who we'll have maning the position for much longer.

Trent is ours.

Can't imagine they can afford Trent on top of this signing...but I won't celebrate with the Colts still out there and all the money they have.

If I was Trent, I'd make the 49ers sweat a bit, wait as long as possible (but not too long that the 49ers lose interest) to squeeze as much out of the 49ers as possible, but at the end of the day, (or maybe tomorrow) he should be a 49er. I'm pretty confident of that, but I'm sure the 49ers have a plan B just in case. Mine would be Slater (or another OT with that first round pick in the draft.).

If his plan is to sign with us anyways he'd be doing the team a disservice doing that. If they don't know what they have they don't know how to spend the rest of their money. It really shouldn't take too long. There are only so many teams interested in him given the contract demands.

It's not a "visit this place to see how it feels" situation. He should already know what other teams are offering. Either come back to the 49ers to see if they match or take the deal you think is best. The sooner he signs the better it is for the team that signs him and it's better for him wanting to win while getting paid.

I was confident Juszczyk would sign and he did. I wasn't confident at all with Verret and he signed too. I'm as confident Trent will sign as I was with Juszczyk, so thats where I'm at right now.

24 million is almost QB money in my book, that is stretching it, and Paraag, but not Kyle, might balk at that. With the cap moving up (due to the new TV deals with Amazon.com, Disney etc.. ) even Kyle might convince Paraag to swallow that counter-offer. As for me, that's too rich and I'd fold.
