Spend on what?

yeah seriously LOL. Trent is a premiere pro tackle. more quality we invest into the o-line the better all around
Who the f**k gonna play LT if he leaves
So, where's this massive TW deal? You know, the one everyone expected he would get? Because he's worth $20 million a year over four years? Yeah, that contract?

Or, perhaps TW ain't worth all that.

Yeah because we got McG to protect the QBs blindside....

There is no reason at all to pass on paying Trent. None

when they do pass on him.. you and i and nc will be in the front row asking why. they will say they were very active in pursuing him and then move onto how they signed solomon to a five year deal

They'll say Trent wasn't that good and we can do better in the draft.

No one smart will say that. I am pro Jimmy, pro Lynch, and pro Shanny, and letting him walk would be a big mistake. Now with that being said, could the team make other moves to help make up for it in part? Absolutely. They could draft a stud tackle at 12 who costs a lot less. They could spend the 20+ mil to bring back K'Wuan, and sign some more free agents. There are still a number of quality edge rushers available and offensive lineman available. It will hurt bad, but the team will then have to make some other moves.
what the bid up to? 25M/yr?

Welp, there it is. He's unofficially officially gone. I'll be interested to see what the final numbers are and if he took a discount to pursue a ring with the Chiefs.

Spread the money around on other positions...I get it, I'd rather have the stud LT. I just won't be crushed if he leaves at a massive number.

Annual amount is immaterial. The guaranteed money is all that matters.
Maybe Trent will go to the Chiefs, and the Niners can get Eric Fisher on the cheap.
