I am a little surprised we haven't heard what other teams are offering him but I'd imagine it has to be a lot. I would love to keep him because we don't really have anyone to replace him with but that is a hell of a cap hit.

Just draft a Tackle and avoid the massive contract he'd get.

Slater and Sewell are going top ten. They'd have to settle on Darrisaw I guess.
Maybe other teams don't think he's the 20 Million Dollar Man.

Honestly at this point if he's pulling a Washington on us just move on, it's not worth it.

Sign Alex Mack
Trade/Draft new LT
This is his first time being a free agent so i'm not even sure where you're going there.

It looks as if Trent Williams must be suffering from PTSD and is having Washington flashbacks by refusing to sign as he got hoodwinked by the Washington team. He must be trying to get all that Money he did not get in Washington. Time to compromise a little. Can't be the highest paid LT when you are 4-5 years older than everyone that's elite at the position. If he is a top 3-4 paid LT, you would think he would be satisfied. We shall see.

It's free agency day #2.
3 yrs 60M 30m guarantee 12/12/6 do it!
He'll be back. Our franchise is a tough negotiator so it makes sense for him to get offers elsewhere to loosen them up. There aren't many great fits for him elsewhere though.

Agree, if I'm Trent Williams, and I got lots of inquiries and a couple of good offers outside of the 49ers offer, I'll take my time and contemplate and make the 49ers sweat a bit. If Trent's heart is left in San Francisco, then he's going to make sure he gets paid for leaving his heart in san Francisco, because it may be his last contract with the injury history that San Francisco has recently for left Tackles and other positions.

what? Staley has been a rock on that line for many years until his last year. And nobody thinks injuries are team related.
I thought he would sign yesterday if the Niners were clearly making the best offer. Some other team is obviously making this interesting.

Our deal offered is better than that already.

Are the Chiefs in the mix? Because if they're serious, I would think Trent would want to go block for Mahomes if the offers are similar.

Injuries are always a consideration when signing contracts in football.

From reports the Chiefs are our only competition. Was a report the Bears inquired but nothing serious.
Today is the day!! I can feel it....
